Great vertical hike. I like hikes that are not flat and this one doesn't disappoint. It is about 1100ft elevation gain and is pretty much climbing up stairs or clambering over rocks. Great view of the city at the top. And the pinnacle is amazing. Most mountains don't have such a sharp point for you to stand on. This one makes you feel like you conquered something tremendous. Few things I would be aware of is that there is a lot of traffic. Probably 50-100 people per hour in the mornings. Also most people don't stop for you if you are going up. Some tight sections can only fit 1 person and they just run your ass right over. If you visit make sure that on your way down you pause to let the people going up pass you. It only takes a few seconds and is safe for everyone. Also the hike is pretty short. I can get up and down it in...
Read moreI absolutely love finding good hikes and this has been one of my favorites! My Daughter in law said she had a hiking trail she thought I would enjoy and OMGGGG!! It took us about 2 hours to complete this one and my leg was doing the Elvis (aka stinky leg) after this hike!! Lol!! It was a fun challenge and the views were so worth it! However, I definitely recommend having water & maybe a snack to have along the way. We had water but by the time we reached the top, it was hot water and fortunately for us, when we made it back down, there were some ladies with a cooler of waters and electrolytes-which were much needed. (Not being from AZ, we weren’t aware that the trails close after a certain time bc of the heat) so when we finished we weren’t aware literally the...
Read moreThe hike is intermediate in some sections, taking approximately 40 minutes without stopping at a brisk pace to reach the summit. Water stations and bathrooms are available near the parking area, which gets crowded anytime after 6:30-7am depending on the day. There are a few sections that area bit steep, makinh the hike is a little hard on the joints, so make sure you do some dynamic stretches prior to starting. At times the path becomes narrow, but mostly everyone I've encountered is friendly and aware of their surroundings. Watch out for rattle snakes! They're beautiful, but I've encountered a few crossing the main trail that have...
