My rating is soley based on the bad experience we had at the kids club. Due to an event, my 3 kids (ages 6,5,3) were put in the nursery area together. Long story short, when I picked them up, my 2 oldest kids told me the lady taking care of them (called Anita who happens to be the director of the kids club) had grabbed my 3 year old and pulled her by her arm, forced her to sit down for time out and pushed her head down while doing so. I confronted Anita and she admitted to it, claiming it wasnât rough and that my 3 year old was on time out (in her words) âfor like two secondsâ She also said that my 3 year old âdid not listen, I had to be sternâ that âshe did not seem to be afraid of anythingâ, and that âshe did not know she could not say no to herâ Needless to say, none of this is acceptable. Anita handled the situation very poorly with me and with my 3 year old. I am writing this for any mom considering leaving their little ones there, especially if they are unable to communicate properly about the way this Anita person treats them. I only found out because my older kids saw it and were able to recognize it was innappropiate. I let the staff know about the incident, they said they were sorry but other than that I donât know what they will do to handle this very important matter as kids club should be a priority given it looks after the most vulnerable ones. This whole thing made us cancel our membership because I donât believe kids are treated with respect and responsability at that facility, I donât care if âAnita has been there for 14 yearsâ The Village needs a youger kids club director with proper and current tools to handle little ones along with patience that Anita...
Read moreI would generally give Village Camelback 4 stars but there are a few things over the past several months that have caused me to back off of the higher rating. I'll list those below in order of priority, with one (1) being the most important to us.
Lights on the tennis courts are not very good. Court 1 is excellent as it has LED lighting. It's not just me, I hear fellow members complain regularly that parks like, Kiwanis, Indian School Park and PTC have better lights.
Men's locker room. Not very inviting and the floors consistently appear wet and dirty. Sauna is tiny for such a large facility and the steam room looks like it was built in the 1980s with no changes made.
Coffee service. I would venture to guess that our members (collectively) have money to spend ($4-$8) on good coffee drinks. Please please please, consider installing a coffee service that can make items such as lattes, mochas, espressos etc. You would be saving many morning goers a trip to Starbucks, Hava Java, The Henry etc... Ex: finish workout, place coffee order, shower, dress, pickup coffee and go to work..
Overall a wonderful place with incredible employees and even better members. It is our sanctuary that is a little rough around the edges. Just a few changes will enhance everyone's experience.
Last complaint: Our rates have been raised over the past two years. We understand inflationary pressures. That said, WHY ARE WE WASTING ELECTRICITY (AND PAYING FOR IT), BY TURNING THE COURT LIGHTS OFF 1.5HRS AFTER SUNRISE, AND WHY ARE WE TURNING THEM ON A GOOD HOUR BEFORE THE SUN SETS. THAT 2-3HRS OF PAYING FOR LESS POWER COULD BE A BOOST TO THE CLUB'S...
Read moreGood place, very clean, wide variety of activities and classes offered. However, I am disappointed in 2 areas. First, thereâs arenât any tennis doubles clinics where you can learn doubles strategy and tactics, which is very important if you are a doubles player, as many people are, and you want to grow your tennis skills beyond how to hit a forehand, backhand, and learn other basic âstrokesâ . The Village needs to go beyond basic strokes and teach strategy and tactics if it really wants to be an outstanding tennis club. The last club I belonged to (another state) had clinics that taught these skills, and beyond, every week. Second although the Village has a significant percent of members who are middle aged, (since itâs quite expensive, many young people wouldnât be able to afford it) theyâve donât offer any classes targeted at normal middle age issues these members are normally are faced with -thinning bones, reduced balance, compromised posture, etc. Iâve made suggestions in these areas a couple times, sadly...
