This was my brotherās and I first time on an ATV and it was a total BLAST!! I would definitely go again; either this same trail or new ones.
I did like that the trail was guided and marked (or āmadeā) since the guides could give us plenty of warning before it got really steep or if the terrain was extra rough. They were really patient with those of us who were first-timers. If it is your first time, be kind and ride in the back so the more experienced ones can enjoy the trail at a faster pace. They will wait for you to catch up and thereās always a guide who comes last to help any stragglers but Iām sure it was frustrating to wait.
If this helps anyone : it reminded me a lot of riding a jet ski. Using your own weight to balance when the trail leans left/right and squeezing your legs to hold onto the thing as the bumps kind of tousle you about during the rougher parts. Or even lifting yourself off the seat entirely so the bumps arenāt so bad like when you go on higher waves before you land. (I was only ever lifted out of my seat once unintentionally and it was because the rider in front of me came to a sudden stop going downhill.)
They also let you do a short ātestā course to see if you want to continue the rest of the trip first which was nice.
The view was great at the top of the mountain. I honestly wouldāve loved to keep going for another hour. š
My one and ONLY complaint were the helmets. They knew which size to give you so it wasnāt the size, and I didnāt take off a star because it could be a personal preference, but when I go in the future I now know full well to either bring my own balaclava mask to wear under or simply bring my own racing helmet. I did see them spray the helmets after we used them, but mine was definitely recently worn and ā¦. It still felt damp and you could tell it was warm during the trip š
As I said, I didnāt remove a star because itās not something they can exactly prevent, and there had already been riders before us, Iām sure I even added to it, but I am highly sensitive to smells and cleanliness and I didnāt expect that to be an issue until I put on the helmet š I didnāt really think about it while riding since I was concentrating on ādrivingā but it was not pleasant in the most respectful way.
Other than that, you might also bring a change of shoes for your ride after the tour. Ours got muddy and I was glad we didnāt get the inside of my car looking the same.
They will provide you some sunglasses as eye protection if you donāt bring your own sunglasses.
I would still go on this ATV tour again, but do highly recommend bringing a balaclava mask, or your own helmet, and a change of shoes for after. I didnāt expect Iād enjoy it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were looking for beginner-friendly ATV riding, and had to decide between this one and the one in Gatlinburg, which had a Family-Friendly Adventure and also one for experienced. This one says itās beginner-friendly and has a better price. A word of warning: there is nothing really beginner about this adventure. Sure, youāre on a practice course for 3 minutes and the staff gives some tips, but after that 3 minutes youāre climbing up very steep hills, cruising across very rough trails, and going down 70-75 degree inclines. There was even an end-loader that had half of the already-narrow trail torn up and still actively working, and we had to carefully get around it (safety perspective, probably shouldāve blocked out a time slot for the construction to finish). Also on a safety-related note, all of their helmet straps are broken, but the staff jokes theyāre just ādecorativeā.
One of the people in our party ended up flipping the ATV, and ended up with a broken arm, fractured ribs, punctured lung, and bleeding on the brain. Thank God the other two people in the group were ER nurses, otherwise Iām not confident she wouldāve been in the best of hands to get her somewhat stabilized and quickly to the hospital. Also thankful her helmet stayed on even with the ādecorativeā strap. I was told by one of the staff that the last 3 days heās worked thereās been a wreck every day. My question is, whatās been done to prevent further occurrences? I get you canāt control human error/behavior, but warnings to the next groups on what they did wrong, or better trail maintenance or something. Also, no one from here has reached out to see how sheās doing since the occurrence. Just would seem like a common courtesy in my opinion, especially when you have all of their information from the waiver forms.
The extra star is because we really did like the staff for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis tour was an experience that left me with mixed feelings. The tour commenced tardily due to an inexperienced rider who was subsequently riding on the back of the guidesā ATVs. Regrettably, the view was subpar. While I have participated in Bluff Mountain adventures that offer multiple scenic stops, this tour provided only one opportunity to observe the surroundings. An additional concerning incident occurred when the guide, accompanied by the inexperienced rider, informed us that we would be traveling at a high speed. However, he subsequently collided head-on with a tree while the rider was on the back of the ATV, which was a frightening realization considering his role as the guide. Furthermore, he struck a portion of their wooden fence, causing it to break. These events cast doubt on his leadership abilities. The ATVs appeared to be poorly maintained. While they operated successfully and there was a local shop ensuring their upkeep, the units themselves were significantly damaged and patched together. Considering the cost of the tour, I would recommend opting for Bluff Mountain ATV rides instead. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a five-star rating as requested. The only positive aspect was the assistance provided by the other guide. It appeared that the supervisor, who was expected to be in the back of the ATV group, made him switch spots and occupy the...
