I love cowtown. Cowtown has been apart of my life as a child and still remains as an adult. The stand i will no longer support is the twisted pretzel stand that makes cheese, pepperoni, steak or roasted pepper pretzels. When i say its like a traditional thats what it was head to cowtown shop grab a pretzel and those chicken wings out of the second barn!! Well the pretzels are out that guy has been there for forever always having help wanted signs on the stand and i wonder why.. BECAUSE HE IS A TRASHY RUDE PERSON! This time the cashier was a women (always different because always needs help) and i waited in the longgg hot line for my pretzels along with everyone else! When inreach the front i have my 20$ in hand i ask if they have the roasted pepper pretzel she say there is none up but i can make for you i instantly say nevermind because of the line. So she gives me the pep pretzel and i pay and during tht the guy is askin wht did i say and she telin him then turns around and forgets if i gave her a 10 or a 20.. i tell her 20 she gives the change and i lift the bag im like this is light is the cheese one in here (i didnt even pay attention to how much the pretzels even were) and she goes no and grabs a cheese and when she pulled it out the bottom half was not cooked all the way the cheese is post to look toasted and it wasn't. So while it was still in her hand i asked for a different one mind u there were others in the warmer she jus had to grab a diff one not make it (like she offered the peppers pretzel) and she told me no then she proceeds to sit it down (because they wrap it and bag it after they take it out the warmer and im like i want a diff one because its not done at the bottom. She stilll said no nd said the line was too long so im trying to get the attention of the guy nd he tells me ahh no without even turning around . Im like are you serious and she thn walks away frm me so i walk away and ask the guy how much are the pretzels anyways he says go look at the sign i said i dnt see one he said its over there. I said instead of me getting in peoples way to look for a sign can you just say how much the pretzels are.. he mumbles 7$ Like first of all his sweat drips all over those steak slices he have on the grill like no other!! I will never ever ever ever support this stand like ive done every single time ive gone to cowtown in the past. Keep your...
Read moreI went to Cowtown yesterday for the first time in about eleven years. All because my cousin told me about a man selling jars of shea butter (from the shea tree in West Africa) lightly scented with popular men's colognes and women's perfume. After sampling some of his scented with Cool Water...I had to have a jar.
Cowtown was bustling with people on a late Saturday morning, looking for good buys and eats. I had my girl and her sister in tow and was focused on finding the shea butter man and jetting back over the bridge. Being there reminded me why I had not been there in over a decade. Lots, I mean lots of the things sold by vendors is cheap stuff. The prices are less, but so is the quality from the looks of many of the tables we saw in one barn and a bit beyond. But if you have an eye for quality, there are enough good quality things to be had for bargain prices at Cowtown to make your trip worth it.
Now the food is off the hook good. The was an eight people deep line for a guy selling rotisserie chicken wings. Dang they looked delicious, so my girl had to get some. A lady was selling sweet potato pies in the same barn. After I got home and ate the $1.00 sample size I brought, I deeply regret that I didn't buy her 8 inch pie for $10.00. Talk about good!
All in all it was a good experience. I just wish there wasn't so much cheap quality stuff on offer. I will return for a larger pie and to attend the rodeo on a Saturday evening. We took my twin godsons there years ago and they and we had a ball.
Oh, between the three of us, we brought five jars of shea butter. My girl loved the jar scented with John Paul...so that's the one I brought. I ain't crazy. He sells an unscented jar...
Read moreThis place is an amazing mega flea market, rodeo, and eateries, all in one! It is open two days a week all year long- Tuesdays & Saturdays. Saturday offers the most having maximum vendors, food, and even live entertainment options. I am often entertained by the "two men outside singing every hit." There are miniature and large horse rides, petting zoo displays when weather permits. You can get anything you NEVER thought of from household goods, clothing, electronics & novelty items below bargain prices. In many cases, even those low prices are negotiable! Cash rules everything around- and there are cash machines located conveniently on each end. Many vendors and food concessions do take credit cards as well. Summer Saturday's offer rodeo shows after 7 pm at the stadium in the same lot! It is called COWTOWN for a reason. The rodeos and competitions are spectacular to witness and it won't blow your budget, even for a family of five! You have to try "Mama's In The Kitchen" soul food restaurant in barn #2. Everything on the menu is excellent! There will be a line and they normally sell out. It is definitely worth the wait! Janet's Lil Donuts is a hot, tasty bargain in a bag along with the Amish & barbecue stops inside. There are plenty of food trucks outside too! You'll leave with plenty of items in your trunk, a belly full of food, and a mind full of memories! You must see it...
