Going to cow town rodeo I didn’t know what to expect. It was my first rodeo, literally. Merchandise was great and the shop employees selling merchandise were very polite. I bought a beautiful necklace at a reasonable price. The roasted cashews were delicious. The barrel racers were incredible. The clown and the dog were great. The Australian Shepherd that they have is talented, well trained, And put on a cute show. However, I was very uncomfortable with the calf-roping, bronc riding, bull riding, and steer wrestling. Dangerous for the contestants, and these activities appeared to put the animals in danger of getting injured…. for what? At one point during calf roping a contestant roped one leg and his partner roped the calf’s neck and the cowboys were pulling in opposite directions. I’m sure that wasn’t comfortable for the calf. The other complaint that I had was that a staff member outside the ticket booth as well as a staff member in the stands were both rude. I was there on a sold out night, and there was literally no place to stand. The lady told me I couldn’t stand in an open area. I moved over and then she said you’re going to have to move. I looked around and it didn’t look like I was blocking any anything and I definitely wasn’t standing in front of anyone so I have no idea why she said I had to move. She definitely could’ve been nicer by explaining why or suggesting another place to stand. Won’t be back. However, to be fair, I gave this place three stars instead of two because as far as rodeos go, these things might be acceptable. I have nothing to...
Read moreDepending on your age the experience will vary. The grounds and the arena are well kept and clean for the most part. The food is good and is nothing fancy, just great barbeque and sandwiches and drinks. Many people have commented on the overbooking of tickets. Since this is bench seating it is impossible to predict a number in the stands. You can fit more if people slide down to the ends, etc. and take up all spaces. This is impossible because then you're on top of one another. So, what's left, standing room only. Those standing don't seem to mind it though. In order to combat this you must get there at least one hour before the show starts. Sitting on the hard benches can take a toll on your back and rear-end. It's tough on older folks like myself. It's good to get up and walk around, only if it's easy for you to get back to your seat. It's wise to bring a good seat cushion as well. The rodeo itself is entertaining with cowboys & cowgirls doing their thing. Oddly enough there were no animal odors that made their way to the stands. I thought that would be an issue, but it wasn't. I guess that spray it down with Febreze before the show starts. I would give this 5 stars if it wasn't for being a little uncomfortable. However, 4 stars is pretty good. If you've never been to a rodeo, you should give this a try and see...
Read moreLost a loyal customer. they will lose more.On 8/4 spent $110 on tickets (4ppl) online for 8/6 Pbr night. Drove the hour to get there, sat in 3 miles of traffic from 445pm to get parked into the back lot at 5:30pm. Saw the line forming around and down the outside, asked a worker if there is anywhere to sit considering the amount of cars. He said no they’ve been sold out for an hour now. 2 senior citizens and a newborn with us Said we can’t stand for the the show. He said call Monday morning and they’ll provide you tickets for the following weekends show. Well we walked up to discuss this with the ticket booth. That line was wrapped around the lot. And we asked another worker and he told us to call Monday morning. So we left. 8/8 4 phone calls 8:45. 9:30 . 10. And 11 no answer. 8/9 we call 8am explaining that and was told better luck next time, get there earlier? She said the employees had it wrong. They can’t do any exchanges for tickets I asked if it’s because the difference in events she said yes. I asked if the ticket price was different and she said no each event is same price. So then why can’t you exchange my tickets for another weekend if I paid the normal amount. She did not care that those 2 senior citizens have been going for 20 yrs and was incredibly rude. Cowtown, you’ve lost good...
