Even in the rain this market is why you go to market.
The freshness, variety, and pleasant atmosphere. The roots on the garlic greens were soft and pliable, perfect for replanting. Apples- yum. Blackbean salsa. Heirloom tomatoes, mushrooms, chocolate milk - Sounds boring, but the flavor of these items are more intense and fresher than similar items at a good store.
You can get soap, honey, breads, pickles, bacon, eggs, cheeses, cookies, pastries, hummus, and many other delicious ingredients or even sandwiches or gyros. This is just a cross selection, and I have not mentioned the transplants that were available the week I went.
Since the covid restrictions are lifted, the market was more like its old self. There were even some samples, not every vendor but more than 2, so that's good. Prices are a bit higher this year, but prices are higher everywhere. And I for one am willing to pay a higher price for a treat item once in while.

Produce vouchers only for produce, fruits and veggies but not bread or pickles or dairy products. It can get confusing.
Remember to have fun, get something practical, and a treat of some sort, it doesn't have to be a cookie or cake but it could be. It could be a chocolate milk, some jelly or jam, or a few heirloom tomatoes, or special cheese, or...

— WILD RISE BAKERY: excellent source of breads, their seeded multigrain is very highly nutritious 😎😎😎😎😎unlike the usual high calorie highly processed breads in this town.
— COLDCO: a fantastic source of fresh vegetables. Great to see greens in the winter👍👍👍👍👍.
— REAL FUNGI: superb source of mushrooms. It’s surprisingly pleasant to see FRESH morels and blue oysters in the...
Read moreWonderful market with a balance of vendors selling fresh fruit and produce, hot food (gyros, tacos, biscuit breakfast sandwiches), amenities (local made soaps, seasonings, and spirits), and other enticing edibles (frozen local bulk meat, coffee beans, cold drinks and teas, and cheeses and spreads).
In the summer, this is our "go-to" grocery stop, and then we fill in anything else we need from the grocery store. It is fun to watch the seasonal foods come and go at each vendor stall and chat with the friendly proprietors. Lots of good people watching!
There are portable toilets on site. Level entry for accessibility. Not a lot of shade! It can get hot. There are a few seats and tables here and there to rest or...
