When I first went to our shop I was so excited I thought I had found what I was looking for she seemed to be very helpful and nice I laughed all that and purchase anything I called her back and was thinking about what I wanted to purchase price was very high I wasn't knowledgeable about the product she explained to me that it would work it was pretty this that and the other so I went back down to her shop 10:00 at night and I purchased the item a wig and I asked her how easy it was simple and is this all I do and I'm like I need to videotape this is just all I do so everything went well that night I purchased a wig the next morning I put the wick on when about my business and I just noticed it drooping back off my face so I called her and told her I need to come in so she can show me what I need to do because this is not working and explain to her the night before when I purchased it that I know anything nothing about this in a simple and I need something simple and easy and.. so however she advised me that she was in class she never called me back so I stopped in there Saturday night or Saturday evening she was very nonchalant like she didn't even know me she didn't give me any assistance her client was trying to give me assistance of get a wig cap or glue or whatever and she said no no you need to break your hair so I go to church Sunday morning I'll put it on in a study slipping back I'm very upset at this point I go online I'm making an appointment for consultation with her from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening I went in she was working on another client I asked her did she get my appointment information she said no again she was very like I was a stranger or some sort I'm trying to use nice words it's hard at this point she advised me to Google what I needed to do to keep a wig on my head and I'm looking at her like are you really telling me this when I explained to you I know nothing about this week and I know nothing about wigs but I did like the style of it so I just feel like I was played so this point I don't know what I'm to do however I have seen her do box braids and stuff as I kept on coming back trying to get my hair together and it seems like she was doing a great job there but her tolerant patient level with me and this week that she sold me was terrible so hopefully we can have a better relationship in the future cuz I'm not a hard person to get along with and it seemed like she wasn't but I see that she's overworked cuz every time I'm in there she's doing here and I kept on going back because this week was really not working for me so I hope we can resolve or issue and...

She's done crochet twists, individual faux locs, and braided ponytail on me and each style was done extremely well - I've gotten random compliments with each style after leaving her shop. She seems to be able to do any style. She takes her time to do the braiding well, but is also quick. She doesn't cut corners to do the job, and she does a great job "finishing" the braids (sealing ends, snipping strays, mousse, etc.). She's also knowledgeable about how to braid to preserve edges.
She tries her best to only have one person in the shop at a time so she can give her full concentration to the customer and get the job done well and fast. She's responsive to feedback while in her chair. When I tell her a braid is too tight, she will redo it or loosen the hold until I'm comfortable and satisfied. Her salon is clean, bright, and has a positive vibe.
Some things to know before you go: You need to send (text to business phone number) a picture of the style you want and what your natural hair looks like loose in order to be able to get a price and appointment. She does this because, again, she likes to concentrate on one person at a time so she does the best job for a customer. She won't know how long it will take to do your hair unless she has an idea of the style you want and how she will need to manipulate your hair to achieve the style.
Regarding some of the reviews about miscommunication - Olive understands English very well, but she is still learning. I'd recommend being patient and using text to communicate as much as possible before the appointment. She reads and understands English better than she can speak it (though she is definitely getting better), so some things can be missed via phone communication that would work better when reading or talking face-to-face.
Shampooing is an extra $20 (as of June 2021). If you come to the shop with hair already washed and combed out, you won't need to get a shampoo.
She sells hair in her shop, but if you need to buy something that she doesn't carry, she'll let you know.
Parking in the neighborhood is metered. Max parking time per session is 2hrs for about $2 (as of June 2021). Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was searching for hair Braiding Shops and just happened be in the right place at the right time we came across Olive's African Hair Braiding shop I knocked on the door and she opened it and I asked them is there was any possible way that they could do my braids for my date the next day they told me that they're only going by appointments because of COVID-19 I asked if they could do it as a spur of the moment thing for me today because I had stuff to do and wasn't available that next day to come in. They told me to come in so I went in and looked around a bit I talked to Olive and Marie about my hair being braided I showed them a style and what I wanted my hair to look like I picked out beautiful colors for my braids she said she would do me a favor and have it done that night. The sisters better known as Olive And Marie were really sweet. She told me that I had to wait until she was done with a customer I told her I had no problem waiting for my turn. Olive came over to me and braided one braid in my hair and gave me an exact price I said that would be great I definitely loved how it looked and when the other customer was finished Olive and Marie came over to start my hair so it could get done quicker with two people while my hair was being braided my boyfriend showed up and these ladies were even awesome enough to let him in too see the finishing touches and we all talked until he left and when the ladies were done with my hair I told them I really appreciated it and gave them Both A Big Giant Hug for all of their hard work and effort and time. So moving forward I DEFINITELY 1 TRILLION PERCENT RECOMMEND GOING TO OLIVE'S HAIR BRAIDING PLACE these ladies deserve there props for a job well done I rated them 5 STARS. My Beautiful Braids Were Done On 9/24/20.
