Park run Ann Arbor contained welcoming, nice, friendly people. It has taken me two months to get up the nerve to run Saturday morning at 8 with a group. I was pleasantly surprised. The run was great for me, I finished number 75 out of 83, so that shows this past Saturday there was a wonderful number in attendance. The first timers, like myself, had our pictures taken and congratulated on participating. Women and men with strollers and babies, children of various ages: 3 - high school and runners with dogs. A true family friendly, weekly event. There were also pacers to assist with your run time doing the 5K or 3.1 miles. Serious participants even wore their T-shirts, stating run #100, those folks were acknowledged and also congratulated. The run only had one small hill, mostly level terrain and we ran on sand, dirt and asphalt. I love ❤️ Lily park as my children used to play soccer there: the fields and children’s play area are in good order. There is a restroom structure that is usually well maintained. When you put love and pride and care into spaces, it shows. The Ann Arbor park run is awesome....
Read moreI have only seen a small piece of the park so far, and it didnt take me long to realize this park has a lot to offer. Lillie park has soccer goals, a playground, picnic shelters, walking trails, a lake, and a large parking area. The park connects to a nature preserve with paths to walk through as well. The nature preserve contains squirrels, birds including a red headed woodpecker, and chipmunks. It was great to walk through and hear nature. I recommend wearing bug spray if you pass through the nature preserve due to mosquitoes. You catch the sounds of two worlds in the preserve: the modern world of traffic and the peaceful sounds of nature. The park seems dog friendly as it has bags to pick up after dogs and people walking dogs. Some of the park trails have signs providing informational reading should you so choose to enjoy the literary material. The park looked well maintained and as another positive, it was not crowded (at least during the time...
Read moreThis park is so peaceful and well maintained. I will say I took a picture of the map and I still got myself off trail by accident. The trail started out looking very much like a trail in my defence. Beautiful, only saw a few other people braving the cold day. A curious chipmunk checked me out while I took a rest on a tree stump. Saw lots of mushrooms. I could definitely tell that this park is maintained, you can see where the fight against honeysuckle is on along parts of the trail, looks great!!! The brush piles are the old honeysuckle and I have read other places have planted young trees after and then use the brush to build up a barrier for hungry deer. Dunno if that's happening here but either way, it's definitely getting...
