American River Recreation — Attraction in Placerville

Our experience with ARR was unbelievable! We loved every minute, from the moment we were picked up to the very end. We went on the North Fork day trip which was equal parts enjoyable and challenging. We went through several challenging and technical rapids. There were rafting groups that stepped out of the water to survey the rapids and try to strategize but our guides just went for it, which we LOVED. We went on this for a challenge, and the possibility of falling out is part of that. Luckily though, no one from our group ended up falling out (on accident at least). Our raft guides were great, professional, comedic, and all around a great group. We had Christian as our guide and he was also the lead guide for the trip. He was fantastic and so sweet! Do yourself a favor and book a trip...

When we inquired on the phone they told us that kids 5 years of age can join the south-fork part of the trip, so we made additional reservations for the kids. However, when we showed up for the trip the guide declined to take any kid below 6-years of age at the last minute. It was quite a bummer as we had to make additional arrangements for child-care. We had a booking for 31 people and yet they declined to refund the 100$ payment that we made for our 5yr old.

The rafting experience overall was very good. However, the camping sites are really really bad and muddy. You get dirty as soon you step out...

Great experience! Our groups was late and it looked like all was lost. However, this place pulled through for our group and put us in the water a little more down - but such a thank you for solving the problem effectively! The river experience was so much fun - great guide - great stop to jump off the rocks - super scenic and thrilling. Will come again as soon...
