I have been a consistent customer for raw milk at Lavon Farms since at least 2021 and would like to share some observations and suggestions based on my experiences:
Observations on Raw Milk Handling Plastic Jug Concerns: I have noticed that milk stored for two or more days in plastic jugs can cause respiratory issues when consumed. It seems that during the milk's natural fermentation process, bacteria and acids interact with the plastic, causing byproducts to leach into the milk. Even transferring the milk to glass containers after two or more days does not mitigate these effects. Preference for Fresh Milk: To avoid these issues, I find that obtaining the freshest milk possible with minimal plastic contact time is essential.
Changes in Cream Content In 2021, the milk had a higher cream content, which I greatly appreciated. However, it soon after seemed to be reduced. On June 4th, 2024, I noticed a similar high cream content, which was ideal for me. However, the cream content was noticeably reduced again in the shipment on June 12th. I prefer unskimmed/full-fat milk or the option to purchase additional cream separately. (For me, there's no such thing as too much cream—I love cream and find it essential for the proper enjoyment of the milk, as well as from a nutritional perspective.)
Suggestions for Raw Cream or Unskimmed/Full-Fat Milk and Raw Butter It would be wonderful if raw cream or unskimmed/full-fat milk were available for purchase, along with the option for raw butter, even if labeled "for pets only." However, while raw butter is beneficial, my primary interest is in having ample raw cream available, even if just in the form of unskimmed/full-fat milk. (Many believe raw butter is superior to pasteurized butter because it retains all the natural enzymes, beneficial bacteria, and vitamins that are often destroyed during pasteurization. I share this belief and prefer raw butter, even if I have to make it myself at home, for these reasons.)
Fermenting Milk into Clabber I prefer fermenting my milk into clabber because it enhances the nutritional profile by increasing the availability of vitamins and beneficial bacteria. Fermented milk is easier to digest, (especially for those who are lactose intolerant, as the fermentation process breaks down lactose). Additionally, I prefer my clabber with lots of cream and raw honey mixed into it to balance out its enjoyable tangy flavor, making it a delicious and nutritious treat.
I highly value the quality of your raw milk and hope these observations and suggestions might be helpful in maintaining and improving your product offerings. Thank you for considering...
Read moreGreat fresh milk!!! Im lactose intolerant, but I don't get bloating and cramps from this fresh milk. They need to do more to let the public know they are there. No noticeable signs along the road to let anyone know they are there. Also, we went on a Saturday and they had a vendor event and I saw nothing posted out front!! They would help themselves and their vendors if they put advertising out front.
Response from the owner Thanks for the review Adrian. I’m sorry that the four signs we have posted out in front of our property for the store aren’t enough for you. We also have two signs posted out front about our markets as well. We post on our Facebook and Instagram pages regularly about our products and markets. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to message us on our social media pages.
Based off the owner's response here is my update... I've uploaded photos of the signs posted out front. I will make a small correction and say there are signs but still not very noticeable going by. That said, it's not that what is out there isn't enough for me, I was trying help Lavon Farms and their vendors. Not everyone uses Facebook and Instagram. I still give the Milk a...
Read moreLast week, I purchased 10 bottles of yogurt and 2 gallons of milk. Unfortunately, seven of the yogurt bottles had an unpleasant taste and odor, while only three were satisfactory. Upon consuming two of the smelly yogurt bottles (I am uncertain if they were spoiled), I experienced a brief itch, which subsequently subsided. However, consuming one gallon of raw milk resulted in the development of the same itchy sensation. When we boiled the milk at a low temperature, it became creamy and delicious, no more itching. Previously, we could purchase milk with a yellow label, which was thick creamy and delicious, and I did not have any issues with it. However, since the introduction of the green label milk, I have experienced mixed reactions, sometimes feeling itchy and sometimes experiencing a positive sensation.
Past six weeks we bought milk and we had no issues may be that day we might’ve eaten something bad or we were taking probiotics maybe that probiotics had something to do with...
