It’s a Mecca of entertainment! Love this place amazing selection of dvds at reasonable prices!
UPDATE: not fond of the new early 9pm closing time. The midnight closing time put the store above all others now it lost a lil of that specialness. *NEW UPDATE… Finally got a chance to visit the new location in Plaistow and wasn’t impressed.. the store is much smaller which means less room for a bigger selection. While going there I figured I’d bring in some unwanted dvds and cds. Some were brand new unopened box sets and misc cds. A total of 60+ individual items. I counted before I brought them in. After waiting about an hour or so for the tally, it came to $42.75. Thinking that was a lowball figure. I asked how much was I getting for a particular box set that I knew was sold on eBay for $80-160 on average. The guy at the front said I was getting about $0.05 for it due to the condition of the box. I’ll attach a pic to show the condition of the box no where near a $100+ mark down. Now I’m starting to question this shop’s “ethics” and knowledge on their buyback process. Either they’re completely clueless to current market value or blatantly trying to rip me off. With all the time that has gone by now I just want to get out of there. Made the transaction and left. I get home and look at my receipt and it says I sold back to them 46 items instead of the 62 that I counted before I went in the store. So where’s the missing 16 items? I was never told that they rejected any of them. Now I’m left to believe they’re incompetent and/or straight up thieves. Over the years I’ve spent literally thousands at the Salem location and advertised their fantastic selection to the public but now I’m sadly left with a bad taste and unsure if I’ll ever go there again nor recommend it… management needs to be more transparent with their buyback process. A solution would be a print out of what they’ll give for each item so the customer can see if it’s worth it to them and to see if they’re getting ripped off also to see if there’s any missing items.. rather then just a final...
Read moreGreg I read your update. My friend & I had a similar experience. They really should give an itemized receipt of all sellbacks, not just number of items. I I loved Salem location. New location is very much smaller with way less in the Criterion section, horror, metal among other sections. Still we drove the two hours from Mass to the new Plaistow to sell back. Where I always had good experiences with selling back before, not so much this time. As Greg wrote, I also counted mine beforehand and then realized afterwards the receipt said only 7 items when it was 11. And my friend sold back way more than me and was expecting more credit than he received. His receipt said 23 items it was a whole box full of very unique things. If you get a third of what's sold back, we added up an estimate of what he should have received and it was way over the $103 he got. After long talks about it we are thoroughly disappointed, let down and extremely suspicious about what may be taking place in Plaistow and what definitely took place during our visit. I mean while we were there my friend even brought up how he had the complete ThunderCats collection and Complete Bruce Lee excellent brand new condition collections and we both saw the guys facial expression change. As an afterthought like almost like he didn't realize what he'd stolen could go for. But he whole demeanor was blaise and unempathatic for my friend. He just didn't care. Approximately a third of everything should have added up to more than his $103 credit. Whatever you do you should definitely count the number of items selling back, maybe write down the titles and pay attention... because I think that at least a couple of the guys are stealing. They really should give an itemized receipt of sellbacks. Dont know how much we'll be making the long trip to purchase from BullMoose or sell back anymore. This left a bad taste after so many wonderful memories of...
Read moreEdit Edit; This place continues to impress and amaze me. The staff here are legit magic makers. Came in looking for a vinyl from my favorite band that dropped on RSD that I wasnt able to snag and found myself in near tears when I found it wasnt available. Was given a solution, and found a different vinyl I had wanted for a family member, a bonus find of amazingness from the staff that I wasnt expecting, and a cd of a band ive just started listening to. Started my encounter on the verge of tears and disappointed, and left the store feeling hopeful, light, and happy that I had an awesome interaction with a great group of people. Thanks to the staff of Bullmoose for once again making my day and being straight up super hero's by saving me from a straight up cry session in the car in defeat.
After hearing about the horrible way that the employees at this location where treated I will not be frequenting this or ANY location of bullmoose in the future. As an avid nerd/vinyl collector with friends who are of similar mind I won’t make much of a dent, but honestly, if they are so willing to place a dollar amount over a persons health and safety the business is not worthy of winning my business. I only hope that the employees who where wrongfully terminated lawyer up. Asking for reasonable safety measures and being fired is not only wrong for a business to do, it’s illegal and immoral.
Wishing the former employees luck. You where always a pleasure to interact with and made every visit i had to this place a memorable one.
EDIT; The incident that happened with the employees was horrible. However the owner has since rectified this mistake and hired the employees in question back. Proud of them for standing up for safety. Proud of the owner too actually for admitting fault and working with the staff to make everyone happy. Have changed...
