I am never one to write bad reviews unless it's well deserved. After leaving a beautiful Christian retreat at Pinebrook Christian retreat center, one of our favorite parts of going to Pennsylvania is finding fresh fruit and produce straight from the farm. As we pulled in the back entrance really excited , there was a woman there a little older with a Quaker style hat and I asked a very nicely if they sell produce? No smile no nothing I just pointed towards the building. Understanding that people have bad days I am a Pastor and I understand that greatly. Everybody gets a pass with me many times over. When we walked into the store the staff there , one young lady and one a little bit older we're so cold, no smiles no nothing. One of my gifts that God gave me is I can make anybody smile and feel good. When asking questions about their produce vegetables fruits I would ask simple questions like where are these grown where are they from and it was as if I was bothering them. I asked about the lemons if they're grown locally and she said well lemons don't grow around here.... We get them from Florida. We felt so unwanted and dismissed and my wife and I were perplexed to say the least. The only reason I didn't give it one star is I don't like to hurt people, and also it was a pretty cool store. I think the staff should take some kind of happy pills or friendly pills and that would work out just fine.. maybe. Maybe a nice blueberry muffin would help their attitude I don't know....... Highly...
Read moreI apologize in advance for the lengthy review, but I visited this place for the first time since moving to the area and was impressed with the selection of indoor and outdoor plants available. Unfortunately, the customer service was not great (for me). I looked around for an employee and found someone assisting another customer, which was expected (busy Saturday). I observed how wonderfully the employee was assisting this customer. She gave the customer information about different herbs and their anti-viral properties among other things. I patiently hovered around looking at other plants until the employee was no longer busy with the customer. I approached her and kindly asked if they had any of the plants I was looking for. Every answer I got from this woman (an older woman) was, "We're sold out. We're sold old. We're sold out." So I purposely asked if they had a plant in stock which I KNEW was in stock and she said they were sold out, too! I walked away after that answer because I felt pre-judged. This is 2020. Not 1950. No one should feel this way in this day and age. I spent almost 150 bucks at this location that day, but it will be the last time I do so. If it wasn't for the selection, I'd give this...
Read moreUpdate: I came here Christmas eve and picked up a lovely wreath and greenery basket, for the house at 25% off. I also tried the ice cream for the first time! Excellent (local creamery)! My son & husband both raved about the chocolatey goodness (I believe it was chocolate cookie dough).
I adore this place--I actually enjoy the shopping experience. They have an amazing home-made style pie selection. Apple, berry-mixes, Ruhbarb, and crumble options--to name a few! One of my favorite buys here is the locally bottled milk. I have "invested" in a glass milk jug (about $11--"deposit") and now simply return with my rinsed jug, to exchange, and pay 3.75 for whole milk. They have 2% and chocolate as well! Good for local farmers, good for the planet, good for the soul. 😊 They have local apples and honey, veg, root veggies, as well as organic maple syrup and hand-crafted lotions and candles. "Farm-fresh" eggs as well. A lovely option for locally-made gifts! Fun candies and other sweets. A nice plant selection, and an enjoyable nursery--in season. It's the perfect combination of local, cozy and high-end artisanal gifts and goodies. While I think the register folks could be a bit more welcoming--I Highly...
