We can't review this experience as we were basically scared out of it and made extremely uncomfortable by the owner Judy's reaction to me having made the mistake of not completly understanding the pet policy. Below is the email I sent to the owners. I would like to apologize for briging my dog onto the preserve today. My understanding was that pets were not allowed on the tours. It was not my understanding that having my small dog leashed in the parking lot would be a problem. I also didn't observe any signage posted informing me otherwise. All this aside, what concerns me most is your approach to the whole situation. As a customer of your experience, I don't appreciate the aggressive nature to me having my pet on site. No hello, no welcome, just a verbal push backwards out of your facility into the parking lot. I think there is a more sensible approach to addressing customers regarding this issue or any issue for that matter. I was trying to get my animal back into the car, but needed the keys from my partner who was using the facilities. She was also accosted, by Judy coming out of the bathroom stating " you're with the man with the dog at the car" "Go take care of it". I've worked in customer service since I was 14 years old, and even on your worst day which we all have sometimes, you can't come at customers with it. I realize that protecting those animals is your first priority, but I can assure you I was not trying to get away with anything, and once I was aware of what I was doing wrong, I was trying to resolve the situation as quickly as I could. You're delivery was aggressive and unnecessary. I felt shamed. I'm not even mad, just hurt that I was made to feel so uncomfortable, as well as missing out on the opportunity to experience the amazing animals.
I did revisit your website last night and read the no pet policy again. If you don't want pets on the property at all including the parking lot, then it should be a little more clear, especially since most families travel with their...
Read moreThe whole experience was excellent and exciting. Having been to Uganda, I felt like I was in Africa the entire time I was there. I arrived at night and when I stepped out onto the porch with my coffee in the morning I could see zebras and giraffes in the distance. I stayed at the Zebra cottage. The cottage was actually a lot nicer in person than in the pictures on the website. I was worried about how warm I would be because it was cold out, but the cottage was well heated. It is decorated in zebra print and zebra posters. There is a couch, a large leather arm chair, a fireplace that we used a few times (wood and kindle is provided!), there is a small kitchen table with a fully functioning gas stove, microwave and small fridge with a freezer section. The bathroom is complete with great water pressure in the large shower. The bed is at least a king size and very comfortable with excellent pillows. There is wifi, a tv with satellite tv. We had a private hot tub that was heated before we arrived. The kitchen had a coffee maker, utensils, cups, glasses, ice trays, matches, dish soap, a towel. There was a small barbecue grill on the deck that we didn't use. We packed a lot of wine, water, snacks, but the tap water actually tastes great. The town of Point Arena is small but has a market, a bakery, a gas station. A mile down from town there is a pizza parlor. All food requires a call ahead for take out due to COVID. If you drive south for about 20 minutes you get to Gualala which has more options for dining and gas and small shops, and on the way there is another small town with a great market and bakery/coffee shop. We did a guided tour the second day there. We rode old Land Rovers and had a very well informed 1.5 hour tour where you learn about 3 types of zebra, two types of antelopes and, of course, the giraffes. You get to feed one and take pictures. There was a two night minimum for lodging, which was fine given how far we had to drive to get there. I highly recommend! Such a great gem a few...
Read moreB Bryan Preserve is a very special place for me and my family. Before my mom passed in October 2013, we spent her very last summer vacation staying at the Chapel Cottage. I've stayed with friends on two different occasions. My now husband and I stayed there over our engagement weekend in February 2018, and B Bryan Preserve kicked off our honeymoon in June 2019. It's the perfect place to completely relax. So much so that we decided to take an impromptu trip there again this coming weekend! LOL! ||||It's your own little cottage on an incredible animal preserve. At night, sometimes you can hear the zebras, and in the morning you can catch a glimpse of a giraffe outside your window. Point Arena is an adorable seaside village, with just enough to explore. Small enough that you're not overwhelmed, but large enough that it offers a few eateries, a movie theater and sometimes even nighttime entertainment in the way of a live band. For us though, we prefer to cozy up in the cottage. Read books while laying in the sun on the outdoor chaise lounge or take a dip in the hot tub. We tend to self cater while we're staying there. The kitchen is small, but again, it's just enough and all you need. I've even made homemade sushi in that kitchen! We brought our supplies with us on ice, but there's also a couple of small markets in town.||||Oh, and one final tip from me to you. It says a minimum of two nights...stay three! Trust me, two just isn't enough to soak in all that loveliness!...
