I've been to 7 escape rooms and this was the first time I had a bad experience. I'll be reviewing the inception room for puzzle design, room quality, and game master helpfulness. The room is designed around engineers fixing a machine and then recovering a patients memories. The first room where you have to fix the machine was very poorly made (props wise) and the puzzles had absolutely no connection to the engineering theme. The room is designed for up to 8 people, but for the first 5 puzzles only two people are able to try to solve the puzzle at the same time, so everyone else is just watching. We had to ask for a couple of hints, but the game master was either not paying attention or was not helpful. This was probably because they have too many rooms to keep track of and because the transmission kept breaking up on the walkie talkie they provided. They should have put a speaker in the room as many other places do. They also changed game masters during our play time, so we had to explain to the new game master where we were at because she insisted we never completed a puzzle we had solved a long time ago and kept giving us hints for something we were not asking for. The other two rooms had much better props than the first one, but we're still in the low end from other escape rooms I've been to. In the new rooms, we solved one of the puzzles that opened a box, but none of the 5 people in the room heard the box opening, so we just kept trying to solve the already solved puzzled for about 10 mins, something the game master should be watching for. Unless I can get a Groupon deal that comes out to $20 per person I won't be coming here again, which is a shame because this is located close to home. $35 is very high for the bad experience provided, but with the Groupon deal I'd be willing to give them a chance at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased a Groupon for my sons birthday almost a month ago now. Great deal I thought, how wrong I was. More like a great expensive headache. The reservation was made for the wrong date. When I contacted Chronos escape room to request a refund the employees informed me they do not give refunds. I was never answered or contacted by a manager only the regular employees, unacceptable. I've played phone tag with the employees ever since my 1st call almost a month ago and have only ever been contacted by them, never by a manager, until recently now my voicemails are going unanswered. The only compensation they are offering me is to reschedule for $10 a person which for my party of 6 is an additional $60. I've already spent almost $200 that would bring my total to almost $300. I am a single mother of 4, that amount is a big deal for us. The employees have said they have no control over Groupon deals. That does not make sense, since the company profits from the purchase made on Groupon they should be able to refund it. This makes me believe they are running a scam on unsuspecting victims and they are making their money through deceit. What shady business practices, they should a shamed of themselves. Beware of Chronos escape room and Groupon (they have no customer service to speak to or contact) for that matter. Save your money and go elsewhere, avoid them at all costs. I will be putting this same review on all platforms I can access so hopefully no one has to go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked for Jurassic Island at 11pm. We arrived 20 minutes early and were asked if we wanted to start early as the game master had 2 rooms going at the same time. It was no problem to us so we started early. The room was good, wish the game master would have been more enthusiastic about the story to sell it more. So unfortunately, we didnt make it out of the room in the hour. My group and I have done almost all of the rooms (except private eye) and we've gotten out of all the rooms except this room. In the end the game master came in and was very pushy about getting us to leave. Normally the other game masters would have walked us through the rest of the game to show us the end result but he definitely let us know that it was a huge inconvenience to him. At first he told us he had to hurry up and reset the room because he had another group after us. When questioned about having another room at midnight he said oh yea sorry we are closed and I dont get paid after 12. We ended earlier than 12 and it would have taken him less than 3 minutes to explain the rest of the room to us. We have always been very satisfied with chronos however, this experience was very bad. When we asked for clues he didnt know where we were at in the room, and we felt like we were more of inconvenience to him. Very...
