Cardenas Markets — Local services in Pomona

Cashiers are usually rude & don't acknowledge you. I've noticed this more so when I shop alone than when my family is with me. They overfill bags causing them to be extremely heavy that I can't lift. Occasionally the produce area will be full of fruit flies. However, when there isn't any you can sometimes find the perfectly ripe item. Although, most of the time the fruit is either not ready or over ripe.

Additionally, they are more expensive than the other 6 groceries stores a few miles from each other. Strangely enough, the store near me has been more expensive on some items than the other Cardenas not far away.

If you are disabled & require assistance, don't expect ANY employees to assist you. My first time using the electric cart I want aware my local Cardenas didn't show them outside. When checking out the cashier never mentioned I couldn't take the electric cart out. In fact she loaded quite a few heavy bags filling the basket. She never offered to get someone to assist me with all the bags I had or fetch a cart for me I could being outside. When I got to the the door I realized the cart I was riding couldn't go any further. I was stuck in front of the doors. The security guard looked at me, then walked away without offering to get me a cart or provide any assistance, or find an employee to help me. After he walked away I looked to the lane I had been in. The cashier was watching me. Once my attention was on her, she quickly looked away then started speaking to the next patron.

Looking at the website to leave a comment & suggestion, I learned that Cardenas stated of as a family operated & owned store. It also claimed that a family member is responsible for either a store or district. The ideas they stated as the foundation & continuing tradition are ones that encourage loyalty as a shopper, however I don't think the employees know or...

Edit: I really hate to say this, but this store has gone really downhill. Something happened around eight or nine months ago. The workers used to be helpful and friendly. I remember the nicest gentleman last year helping me find something for instacart. It’s not the same anymore. The workers are unhelpful. They ignore you unless you speak Spanish, then they don’t he’ll even if you do talk in Spanish.

There’s issues with quality too. It started with the fruits and vegetables. The quality just went from superior to the worst. My wife won’t even go through the door of the store because there are so many flies. Recently, I want to say about three weeks ago, The quality inside the butcher shop has also decreased. The same meat sits out all day in a display case that isn’t cold. I ordered chicken legs and they made me really sick. They Didn’t taste very good either. I overcooked it to be safe and it still made me sick.

Today is probably the last day I will ever go to Cardenas. I used to have so much. Hope I used to tell everybody how much I love this store. I don’t know what changed, But it makes me really sad.

I have to imagine whoever is in management is to blame. This seems like workers taking advantage of a lazy manager.

Manager/Brenda definitely needs to interview her employees before she hires them! Went there because I love shopping at my Mexican stores never had a problem before but the cashier MERCEDES V. Has a horrible attitude! I understand she’s probably tired and as a human being has problems but she smashed my bread with her nails so I change it myself to not give her a hard time and she was saying that I was trying to steal it I trying showing my receipt 🧾 and she walked away looking me up and down telling her coworker/old lady with white hair to call security I understand I wasn’t looking my best as I had just come from work but come on over a bread??? Then since she didn’t want to see my receipt I was to speak to the manager and her while attitude change!!! She was like asi esta bien lléveselo i was no you said am stealing and that’s not right and you can imagine people just looking at me!!! Ni en las tiendas mexicanas puede uno sentirse agusto!
