The website for this park stated that it is $33 a night for a waterfront sight. Arrived to discover that NO GOOD SAM DISCOUNT & $40 a night. Their reasoning was because of Harvey. We understand that. That's part of why we visited Port Lavaca, to help bring in tourist dollars. It's very clear from our experience, that they will take the money but leave you wishing you gave it to a more honest town. There's no cable. No Wi-Fi. No access to the 2200 ft. bird watching boardwalk. No boat dock. Not even access to the pool or splash pad. None of the things that you would expect for an outlay of $40 a night. They're charging $15 less than a resort park in town with all of the amenities including a hot tub. What do you get for this off-season fleecing, you might ask. You get terrible road noise but only after their construction crews have left with their sound systems. You get 30 or 50 amp hook-ups, sewer and water. That is only worth $10 - $20 a night, maybe $30 during the busy season. Do yourself and them a favor by skipping this overpriced off-season scam. Then maybe they can assess their priorities and change their website to match what they really charge. Don't waste your time. TEXAS LAKESIDE RV RESORT has all the amenities for only $15 more a night but that gets you every amenity you could think of including a private...
Read moreOne of the surreal place to visit in Texas. Not much is known online before visiting except the light house so detailing here. Next to parking lot, is the Formosa beach walk(picture attached) one of the longest in the world. They also have telescopes for bird watching but we arent able to view anything clear. Same with others visited as well. Accessible parking options available for the elderly. RV camp is located within the lighthouse beach. Restrooms are clean. You cannot swim here as its marshy area and no beach access. Recommended place for bird watching in Texas. If you taking beach walk then can spend around 2hours here as this place has lot to offer. Have a nice...
Read moreDO NOT Stay here if you want a peaceful night. We arrived late afternoon when already closed and found a spot. We had to listen to music and people taking on till after midnight. Then the people next to us had multiple dogs that barked all night long due to being left outside. The park is not secure so people can be driving in and out all night. At 5am we decided to go search for an appropriate and safe place which we found. I went back to pay $40 for the few hours. Not to mention threatened with law enforcement involvement due to no one to pay since arrived late and left early. Stay at Mongolia Beach...
