It is very difficult to find Fort Frederick, but it is worth the effort! Incredible history of the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation.
While exploring Beaufort by bicycle we could not find signage or any local person who know where Fort Frederick is. We finally asked at the Naval Hospital guard gate. The very helpful MP could only tell us that she could see the ruins of the Fort from the Navy side of fence when she made perimeter security checks.
