I have gone here for the past few Tues nights for the free concerts with my parents, brothers and husband. Nice variety of bands. I hope they eventually have it thru Oct. It only goes til end of August as of right now.

Came into town for an 85th birthday celebration at the Portage Pavilion at Woodland and was completely offended by the staffs treatment. A friend had rented this location for his mom, gone through the expense of paying a caterer, a dj, a decorator and photographer only to be thrown out two hours into the event during dinner service. Literally. The proprietor called the police because she saw one person drinking beer and they had not bought a drink package. This could have easily been resolved. Once the host saw the person drinking he tried to resolve the issue. First, he had the offender take the alcohol out. Then he offered to pay any additional drink package charges but the police had already been called and said there was nothing they could do we all had to leave because the lady who ran the place requested it and it was out of their hands. My problem with this was the lack of consideration shown. This should have been handled with a warning. The host should have been allowed to correct the situation with his guests without kicking everyone out in the middle of dinner. This was really bad public service from the employee of the Portage Department of Recreation who chose to use her biases to assert and disrupt this Grandmother's celebration. Very...

I would give the workers out in the field 5 stars but the office staff is awful. They are rude and don't care. They will hang up on you if they don't like your questions. Lorie Wilkie is the worst. She is rude and incompetent. They don't relay the messages to the workers out the in field, so getting things taken care of in a timely manner isn't possible. This has been an on going problem for years and needs to be taken care of. A change in office staff...
