Heard some good things about out this place and decided to give it a try. For starters, the employees were very dry and didn’t even look like they wanted to be there at work, not even acknowledging my friends and I when we walked in the door. I left that as water under the bridge, as we all have our bad days. The bartender didn’t write down our order when taking it, and I specifically requested to have No sour cream on my nachos… As my friends and I played pool, we watched as our food just sat in the kitchen window while the bartender just associated unprofessionally with others who were there. When our food got to the table, you can tell the wings were sitting, the nachos were all chips, barely any chicken or other toppings, and they drizzled sour cream all over the top… Because my friends were hungry, I just gave them the nachos instead of eating them. When I went to use the restroom it was disgustingly dirty with no toilet paper in either stall and barely any soap. When the bartender turned the lights on, the place was swarming with gnats!!! All over the food, all around the tables, it was unbelievable! So bad, another customer had said the place should be called “ SheGnatigans”… I asked the bartender why were there soo many ghats covering the entire place and she said, “ I don’t know, but we tried getting rid of them but nothing works, so we just ignore it”….. Disappointed, Disturbed, & Disgusted with this place would be an understatement, wouldn’t even give this place1 star, and we will definitely not...
Read moreOur thanks to the team at Shenanigans (Pub Eatery) in Portage, Indiana for making our Memorial Day 2018 visit to the Lake Michigan shore area a memorable one. We chose a hotel within walking distance of Shenanigans so we could end a warm day at the Indiana Dunes with some food and drink. (Note they offer a 10 percent discount on your bill if you stay at a nearby hotel). It was immediately noticeable to us that Wallace, Chris, and the servers had pride in their food and drink offerings and wanted us to feel like a valued customer. The food was very tasty and we could tell it was prepared in-house from scratch; we had the spicy shrimp appetizer and the Italian Beef sandwich served with au jus. The local craft beer from Michigan City was a good selection on offer. It was especially nice to have an inside seating area with fresh air coming in from the outside patio area. Several families with children played games provided by the staff. A side note on the food…someone outside ordered a house pizza and we could smell the garlic at least 10 feet away. We saw one customer with a thick burger with trimmings, and another customer who ordered a plate full of perch. All in all, if you are up at the Indiana Dunes area, consider staying in Portage and making Shenanigans a place to stop for food, drink, fun, and just enjoying the outside air on the patio (while the sun sets and the...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped for dinner and for the Comedy Show. It was our first time there. Curt, the Owner, stopped by our table to welcome us. I was amazed of his awareness that we were new patrons! He took the time to chat and visit with us. Just a really super charismatic guy - great humor - but cheap 😏 You'd think after bending our ear that he would have picked up our check . . .Whatever.
Just kidding 😂🤣🙃😜
My husband, Dave, had the Fish & Chips. Let me tell ya, it was delicious! I wasn't very hungry, so I just ordered the Cobb Salad. It was loaded and perfect! Then we went to the Comedy Show and laughed our heads off! These were great headliner comedians! My face was hurting from laughing so much!! What a FANTASTIC evening we had !!
We will be coming back over and over again! The food and drinks - all reasonably priced. The waitresses, the bartenders, the service and even that cheap Curt.... everyone and everything about this place made us feel welcomed😊 I highly recommend this place and urge you to make this a regular stop .... no matter what kind of Shenanigans you...
