Sometime people don't know how to rein in their aggressive dogs, and bring them here, and dog attacks happen. Sometimes serious fights occur, dogs can be severely injured. I never take my dogs there any more, period. Or really on any walk or park, and especially not without my pepper spray. In my own experience at Mt Tabor Off Leash park; 2 young Great Danes attacked my Yorkie..vet bill. A Pit Bull and a Dobi fought, I used my pepper spray to break it up when the dogs parents did nothing to stop it. Recently a neighbor was carrying his dog to his car,,he said 5 weeks ago a Pit Bull attacked him at Mt Tabor Dog Park, shredding his dogs throat, and shattering right front leg which had to be amputated at the shoulder. Big vet bills. Huge. The dog was lucky to survive. Outside of Mt Tabor, 50th and Sandy area, a client's dog, on leash, was evicerated by a rogue Pit Bull out of nowhere. Her dog died. At Laurelhurst Park a Jack Russle attacked my Yorkie. Vet bill. At Laurelhurst Park walk my Yorkie, I was pushed down in the mud by a Pit Bull, The owner did nothing, I stood up, the PB did it again. Wth? Long ago I was sitting at Laurelhurst on a park bench overlooking the Bowl, with my Maltese, a guy in a trench coat and hat, middle of Summer, walked with his off leash PB that ran up and barked aggressively at us, the dog parent didn't do anything, the dog came around even closer, did it again, I had to yell at his owner, I had to show no fear but I and my dog were really shaken. It was not Let's Play, it was threatening. I suggest everyone learn how to break up dog fights, Google it,, and, carry mace pepper spray, bear spray, and/or dog taser. If you own a PB carry a Break Stick, whatever is recommended. And if your dog is involved in a dog fight, be responsible and exchange information, to hash out the vet bills later. If your dog started it, you need to pay. It is your fault for not having control over your animal. You think dog training is expensive, wait til you get sued and have to pay for someone else's dog's vet bills. It's "Do unto others as you would have done unto you".. Not: What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine. Let's try to...

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I was not a fan :/ I really wanted to be. It's a nice sized park, a lot of space for roaming and even some trails that loop throughout and water supply, which was nice.

The fencing along the park is pretty old and delapidated, not to mention pretty dang short. I have a 40lb husky and if she saw a squirrel on the other side of the fence she would've had no issue clearing it. A human could clear it without much difficulty (like I could hop [not jump] over it).

Not to mention that it's settled on a huge hill. It's an orthopedic emergency waiting to happen watching the dogs get zoomies and start high speed chase on it is cringy.

The top of the hill has NO FENCE; not a joke, no fence. In the height of a dog chase when they aren't really listening to the human, there's only brush "keeping" them inside. On the other side of the brush is the road that runs through the actual park, so there's a decent amount of cars that go through there.

The risks of it all just don't seem worth it. I'd prefer a fully fenced space. The nature is still enjoyable, so I'll give it that much at least. (Edit: and the people who go there are very nice, as are the doggos. Really just didn't love the...

The beauty of this mountain is astonishing. It's right next to my school campus (Warner pacific ) and every wendsdsay there are events of dance that will leave you amazed and in awe of how beautiful mother Earth really is. The community keeps the park exceptionally clean and there's something for everyone here... Basketball, bbq, view points, hiking, children's play grounds, plenty of dog walking room and the friendliest Portland crowd you can meet. Every wend when it doesn't rain performances encompass the power level by the water reservoir by musicians and djs (is that the same thing?) From all around the world, not just the town. I love Mt. Tabor and it's been engrained within my DNA as one of the most wonderful places I've ever visited. Oh and a coffee shop is available if needed on the 60th and division side. Enjoy heaven on earth with family, friends and anyone else you want to share these magical...

Highly recommended dog park to go to for the active type, both two legged and four. This park is fenced, though I must warn you, there are top-outs. The very top of the stairs (mid-park) and at the upper South end of the park are not fenced. If you keep your dog away from these top outs, they will never know. Your puppy will love the many adventurous spots around the park and have a blast playing with all the dogs at the center of the park. During rainy seasons, be prepared for MUD, be prepared for a dog bath! During dry seasons, the canopy of this micro-forest will keep you cool and your loved ones. The trail is fairly easy and the park is so big you can easily walk a mile if you do a couple of laps. All around, a must if you're even considering coming here.
