The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The presence of a food pantry is all good, one would hope. Thank you to those honorably taking part.
When volunteers / staff hang out, don't supervise and instead socialize, it diminishes the experience of those you purport to 'serve'. Don't volunteer because you are retired and want something to do and have a social outlet, and have no care awareness or idea of what the work involves from the moment the client walks in the door to the moment they leave.
If you like being stared at by volunteers - one male and multiple young females who seemed to think it is ok to stare and do not honor privacy, pushed and bullied by other clients while the 'volunteer' stares and does nothing and others are chit chatting, this is the place for you. I am sure the clients do not know this is not an honorable environment; they are in need, and those in need /disenfrachised are often exposed to a lower standard. The problem is there are many 'volunteers' / staff here letting it happen and watching. Someone is supposed to be ok with experiencing this because something is 'free'? Not civilized and below any standard that should be accepted in this region and country.
They are ok with an environment of bullying. They think that because someone is there they aren't due the same experience as others.
It is a given in any public environment, especially this one, that there are going to be people who are rude, aggressive, bullies etc. Allowing and enabling it to happen, standing by and not doing anything, not caring, disregarding, and more reveals a true foundational dis-care and neglect of the role, clients, space and food pantry itself. Ultimately it is a civil and human rights issue. I have been to a few food pantries and safety, organization, supervision is required and paramount.
I'd rather be hungry. Than stared at blankly by multiple strangers in a close space the entire time I am in the room; bullied by other...

McManus Alighting upon arrival I was greeted with gracious and kind smiles, hidden behind some sweet and exotic pain that could possibly stem from learning that hunger exists in a place where nobody seems to realize it, the truth that love and happily ever after really doesn’t only exist in fairy tales. People in America starve to death on a regular basis and the government acts as if it isn’t happening. This corporation feeds people and just asks for a demographic which is a statistic based on the area in which you exist. That isn’t much to give them since they freely and willingly feed thousands of Seacoast residents each month. Their facility is clean and kept well organized by volunteers who benevolently and with much love offer their time and efforts to change the course of history daily! Human compassion and love is such a lost art that most people believe that it doesn’t exist, that’s the saddest thing I’ve ever had to write. Just because someone’s delusional demands aren’t met doesn’t mean that love is dead! First it takes realizing that you’re being delusional then debunking your own thinking while consciously remaining considerate towards others. In conclusion I believe they are a well-organized and integral part of the seacoast area and without which I would have most definitely perished by now. Thank you so much for being there when others love, light and hospitality seemingly has run out! You are all radiant and much loved! I...
