IKKO II Japanese sushi and steakhouse
My order Tonkatsu and rice (breaded pork) Alaskan Rolls (one sushi)
Bonus foods Miso Soup Salad
Overall Meal Rating: Fantastic Wait time: not long (under 30 minutes)
I enjoyed my Sushi, it’s hard to find great sushi around New England, but this is a great place to start. I wasn’t able to finish the rest of the food (food was very filling, but it works well for left overs).
Overall service rating: Super
The girl who was in charge of waitressing our table was very polite and respectful. She did her job very skillfully and punctually.
Location and accessibility: Great
This place is very close to Portsmouth, Maine, and the ocean. The overall restaurant is not hard to get to and there is plenty of parking space. And it’s also easily accessed for handicapped individuals.
Appeal, Cleanliness, Environment
If you like Asian food or more specifically Japanese cuisine, expect your craving to be well met.
It’s very clean inside of the restaurant, the staff are constantly wiping down tables or moving them to keep everything prepped for customers. The menus as of now are currently digital. But for some reason the cellular service in Portsmouth isn’t great, but the restaurant has WIFI which will allow you to access their menu. And if you’re not comfortable using public wifi, they still offer paper menus.
The environment is very cool. The restaurant is very blue and the temperature is very pleasant. Overall a relaxing and well atmosphere.
Reviewers experience
I like eating Asian cuisine, so this was a great experience. My friend and I were visiting from The Northeastern Kingdom and we found ourselves looking for Japanese food, the first place was take-out only. (which is fine). But we wanted to sit and eat, and this place delivered. My only complaint is that there isn’t an establishment in Vermont, or at least Littleton New Hampshire, come closer I need morrrreeeeeee. 🥺👉🏼👈🏼 I will likely be back to this place, and I might just have to bring more people.
Overall: 10/10
TL;DR
It’s good, if you like Japanese food and you’re hungry. Go already! You’re...
Read moreI have never left a negative review before in my life. We took our two kids and their friends to this restaurant to celebrate their birthdays. The food was good and the chefs all around us seemed wonderful but I have never been so rushed through a meal in my life. We've been to many hibachi restaurants and I understand that they are fast paced but our chef could not be bothered. He clinked his spatula on the table once or twice and threw an egg in his hat and then practically ignored us the reminder of the time. He lit an onion volcano to initiate "Happy Birthday" but didn't sing, continued to cook through the song, and cut the volcano up into the veggies halfway through the song. He threw our food at us (not in the fun zucchini way). There was food all over the table from him slopping across the table at us. Our server never came to see if we needed new drinks. Hibachi is not cheap. Our bill was over $200. It is not something we can do all the time. We came out for a fun experience for my kids and we were practically pushed out the door. They did bring out little balloon hats and a dessert for the kids to sing happy birthday to BUT they did that while we were still eating. The server started packing up our plates into to go boxes while I literally still had a fork full of rice going towards my mouth. I am blown away. This was supposed to be a great birthday experience for my kids and it was a totally...
Read moreWe had a phenomenally satisfying meal here! This is not your standard sushi fare. The miso was piping hot and a touch more onion-y than I’ve ever had. Wanted to order another bowl immediately but the ginger dressed salad with big crisp hunks of lettuce piled high had arrived. Next up the steamed edamame which were quite al dente and hardly salted - different than my usual - and yet I could. Not. Stop. Eating. Them. We then had a mix of sashimi, sushi and a couple of hand rolls. Melted butter soft tuna and salmon. Chewy dense octopus and popping fresh roe. The salmon skin hand roll was packed with flavor and my daughter had a California roll that had this creamy texture I think from the avocados but there was some other reason as well and they were about the best I’ve ever tasted. They were all the perfect temp as well which makes a difference. Service was sparse but attentive if I looked like I needed something they know how to read that and appear.
As far as COVID safety precautions they had closed off every other booth and aisle. The plastic menus are done away with and you scan to read on your phone. The tables are clean and bare. Soy sauce is served to you in single serve individual cups with lids. This was the 1st meal we had sitting in a restaurant since the pandemic hit and it felt comfortable. We left with an energized...
