A Southern Girl Bakery — Restaurant in Dover

I stopped in here on a whim today looking for something sweet. The shop is beautiful and clean and the owner was so nice and kind. All of the items in the shop were reasonably priced, and there was quite a large selection. In addition to having standard cupcakes and Pastries, she had quite a selection Of both gluten-free and vegan options. I got four cupcakes and a muffin for $23 which I thought was very reasonable. The owner also gave me the wrong cupcake in my box, and instead of just swapping it out, she gave me an additional free cupcake, which was very kind of her. I ordered a salted caramel, smores, cookies and cream (v), and strawberry cupcake (v). The extra one she gave me was double chocolate. All of the cupcakes were great, the flavors were all well balanced without being too sweet. If you hadn't told me that two of the cupcakes were vegan I never would have known. The real star of the show was the banana streusel muffin I got. That might just have been the best muffin I've ever had in my entire life. It was almost like a banana monkey bread style muffin with a cinnamon roll glaze on top and I'm not kidding you I would drive 45 minutes back just to get another one of those muffins. Romonia at A Southern Girl Bakery was so wonderful to work with!! She made our wedding cake, and I was blown away at how incredibly BEAUTIFUL it was!! It was so delicious, and the guests were raving about it for days! Throughout the whole process, we felt so taken care of by Romonia, you can tell she is so passionate about the work she does. I went here for the first time a few days ago when I was in the mood for a snack. They are loaded with cupcakes. I am not a huge cupcake fan, so I didn’t try any, but their flavors were varied and interesting. I decided on a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie. I am 61 years old and 300lbs. Trust me I have eaten my share of cookies in my life. This cookie may have been the best I’ve ever had. A unique combination of crispy and chewy with an amazingly complex flavor.
