Portsmouth Historical Society — Attraction in Portsmouth

We recently visited and took a walking tour with Portsmouth Historical Society- it was fantastic! Our guide, Jeff, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much about the city and got a great lay of the land as well for later exploring (historic houses, streets, Prescott Park, etc.). The headsets provided for the tour were wonderful and ensured that our group could always hear well despite traffic/street noise (having taken walking tours without headsets elsewhere, having PHS provide headsets was a notable benefit!). We also appreciated the introductory video at the Society's building that we watched prior to the tour; the video offered a great overview of Portsmouth's history. Both my husband and I noted that the PHS did a great job of incorporating Indigenous and Black history into the main narrative, and we felt that we received information on a wide range of Portsmouth residents.
