There is a very TOXIC clique of narcissistic, trailer park, dog park police wannabees there that think the dog park belongs to them and them only, and they think they can question anything and anyone there. After being questioned why I was filming the cute mutts for my sick, dog loving mother, and then delusionally being accused of stalking the dogs for a later dog theft on my bicycle,(LOL!) to being accused of "Charging the fence" (So dramatic) and a psychotic, paranoid death threat of, "If you touch my dog, you're DEAD!" comments, this deranged psychopath called the police, which I calmly waited for. After being interrogated and having a criminal background check ran and having to pull my license, etc. Of Course, I was free to go. LMAO! The park is great, but this delusional, paranoid, self important group needs to be buried in the sand with the rest of the dog crap. :) It's a public park. I'm free to go there, film there, take a nap there, eat a sandwich there, take a dump there, (although the restrooms are a bit frightening), and I can leave when I'm ready to. Don't let this group of wackos intimidate you, tell you what you can or can't do, and only leave when you're ready to. In the summer, the mosquitos on the trail are pretty bad, but it's a pretty decent park otherwise. The water gets a bit stale in the heat of the summer. Now, if they could remove the abandoned RV in the parking lot that's been there for years, it might help remove some of the stigma. I had to put my dog down a few years back and stopped by to not only make myself feel better, but to also send Mom a video of cute dogs to make her feel better also. I don't need to explain my intentions to anyone and I resent the accusations by these whack jobs. I will go back there, because the park belongs to EVERYONE, including me! P.S. The police never told me I had to leave. They said, "you're free to go about your business." Exactly! If you go there, please BRING...
Read moreAs a new resident of this city, one of the first things I wanted to do was take my dog to the local dog park, but unfortunately, my experience has been incredibly disappointing. First, the park is far too small for a city with a growing population, let alone the amount of citizens residing in Provo currently, making it difficult for dogs to run around and socialize properly. On top of that, the ground is not grass or turf or mulch—it's some type of sand-like material and it's basically a giant sandbox. I understand this may prevent mud in the wet months and provides low-cost maintenance option for the city by not having to water/maintain real grass, but the reality is that it traps odors in a way I've never experienced before. The smell is overwhelming and unpleasant, not to mention, extremely unsanitary - I’ve seen visible remnants of poop and urine stains all over.
This park is not safe or comfortable for either dogs or their owners. As someone who loves their pet and values cleanliness, I feel deeply frustrated and let down by the city for not providing a better option to it's citizens.
I really wish I would have visited this park before I moved here, as it's become one of the biggest disappointments of my decision to settle in this area.
I sincerely hope changes are made so that this park can truly become a space where both dogs and their owners can enjoy themselves without worrying about the health and...
Read moreTucked away in the hills of Provo with something to enjoy for everyone! The boardwalk goes in a short loop with an optional extended path, lovely shade from the wetland trees with a little water fountain area before the exit. Wide enough for a stroller or walking hand in hand. The pond is a favorite spot for family photos in September, and for seeing tadpoles. The park has its own gated dog park / run! Pets are supposed to be on leash, especially if they are outside the dog area. You’ll have lots of fun if you love dogs and making furry friends! Please be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your pet—and in the actual garbage rather than a bag left on the ground. Great place for disc / frisbee golf, catching Pokémon, a picnic on the grass under the variety of large shade trees, rolling down the steep hill, or sampling some of the pears in season. A popular playground in the afternoon with lots of swings and even a zip line! Bathrooms are usually well maintained and a life saver on long park outings. A local gem and hopefully stays amazing with our...
