Park is not terrible but the homeless community has over ran the majority of the facility and the immense amount of people using a substance of some sort is through the roof. The problem is with that being a constant there in turn others whom are visiting the Park, pool, picnic Ramadas etc are constantly asked and sometimes harassed for money 💰 🤑 💸 and some will not relent until you have given them something. Sadly it is not a acceptable family friendly, child safe facility as it once was. The pool is a nice getaway and reprieve because it cost $4.00 per person whether you swim or not so you do have some options to separate yourself from the chaos and mayhem that encompasses the rest of the Park. BTW do not count on the Park Rangers to regulate and facilitate the trouble makers, or people blatantly shooting up under the shade trees etc. Nope they don't even get out of the truck and pretend to be doing their jobs. Pueblo west has some great places amongst multiple other locations throughout Pueblo. However Bessemer Park, now Ray Aguilera Park I'd a cesspool of open air drug sales and uses and everything else that accompanies the lifestyle. Run fast and far and remember you didn't miss anything. Take care and...
Read moreAt first glance, it's a nice, big park with a nice, big public pool ($4 fee lets an adult swim all day). Before your first glance is even over, however, unless youre unobservant to a fault, you'll most likely notice that things are a bit amiss here. The park seems to be 50% legitimate park goers/families, 50% drug seekers/sellers. In other words, there are a TON of "criminal & homeless types" here. Generally, though, it seems like the drug people are respectful of the family people, and vice versa. If you're a legitimate park goers, before you settle down under one of the gazebo areas, make sure it's currently being used by OTHER "normies," or else you and your kids might be privy to several concurrent, blatant displays of hard drug smoking (I DON'T...
Read moreGood park, bathrooms are meh. The only issue is the homeless hang out around here because we have not many other places to go. (Yes I said we.) I've taken my girls here for many years before and held events at this location. It is great for a large gathering. You do need a permit to hold an event at this location. Which you can obtain at the parks and Rec. Office in the center of City Park off of Goodnight and Pueblo Blvd. No fees.
