I wasn't expecting this place to be as comfortable and welcoming as it first looked when I pulled in. It was my first time here. If I am honest, it looked like someone had made a house, then tore down a lot of the internal structure and made it into a restaurant instead. But don't let the initial look of the place deceive you.
The waitresses in here were very welcoming to me and the other six members of my dining party when we came in. We made it in a couple hours before closing, but they made us feel like we were the first customers that came! Our main waitress even told us that the green chile that was made would be a bit spicier than normal, which was awesome to know!
Seeing as this was my first time here, I ordered the chicken tacos on white tortillas. They were great! I also really enjoyed the rice and beans they put as sides. (On a sidenote, I usually don't like those sides because they often come out a bit bland and dry for my tastes.) The only food I didn't really care for was the sopaipillas. There might have been a few factors at play, but I found them to be a bit more dense and bland than the ones I am used to from family and friends. Enough to mention, but not enough to dock stars from.
Overall, it is a great place to go. Would recommend for anyone who wants a good taste of Pueblo's...
Read moreOn our way back to Co. Springs from a family trip, we were really hungry before reaching Pueblo. So we used our phone to find restaurant reviews. This place had ratings higher than many other Pueblo Restaurants, so we decided to try it. It looked fairly busy but run down. Sometimes dives have good food though so we took a seat in one of the many booths with green duct tape over the tears in the green cushions. My husband asked about the beer selection and the waitress tersely told him it was written in the menu. I ordered the chile relleno plate with green chili sauce and my husband had a combo with the red chili sauce. She brought the plates and we had to ask for silverware...so she brought us a fork and spoon. I asked for a knife so she brought one a little bit later. We had to share it. With the exception of the chips placed on the table when we sat down (which were good) the rest of the food was mushy, greasy, brownish and old. My chile relleno had unmelted velveeta cheese in the middle. I stopped eating about 1/3rd into my plate. My husband stopped eating before finishing his plate as well. Our stomachs began rumbling before we even left the restaurant and we talked about how unreliable the online reviews seem to be. The high rating of this restaurant is a sham. Eat here at...
Read moreMy husband and I were in Pueblo for a concert and decided to check this place out based solely on the name. There used to be an El Nopals down in the Springs that closed about 10 years back that had amazing green Chilli. Turns out this restaurant is owned by their relatives. The food was amazing. My husband and I both ordered the Ultimate Chimichangas smothered in Green chilli. The green Chilli was not only full of flavor but had a nice kick to it. The chip and salsa were good and fresh. The service was super friendly and we enjoyed our meal. There was a freak storm that knocked out the power and they still managed to get other customers food out and didn't mind that we sat at our booth until the rain and wind let up. We will...
