They blame their volunteers for any and every issue, the adobe outside is not open to visitors, and things you are to touch are broken and are not scheduled to be fixed. I, personally, was let go as a volunteer, with a superb college degree, when I expressed interest in replacing a worker there. I was informed, even though video cameras were there, that money was missing from their gift shop register....

It is a shame they have two video cameras on the register, allow ALL their employees to access that one register, but felt the need to blame me "without" blaming me. No police were ever called, etc., and I was never officially blamed.. I actually seriously doubt any money was ever missing either...I just wanted to replace a member of the staff (Sean) to benefit the community. Apparently that is a problem, especially after I volunteered personally to pay for some of their broken exhibits BEFORE I was aligned with a "cash register thief" scenario, that "surprise," Sean envisioned..

But I ask them to blame me officially, so I can sue their junk museum. Libelous and slanderous comments are grounds for litigation. Little punks named Sean who don't do their jobs and blame others are just punks. It doesn't affect my career. Just your shi**y museum.

So this place definitely has some politics going on. I would avoid this place like the plague. A lot of punks work here, but everything (typewriter, exhibits) are broken, and they never want to improve the locale for residents or visitors. I can see now why I wouldn't fit in...I guess I would have raised some questions as to why an employee is paying to maintain their exhibits. What do you guys do with the money you get?? Who are the real thieves here? Hmm.

Spend your money elsewhere or ASK if you can visit the abode outside (the one on their literature that draws you in) BEFORE you pay for admission. And don't volunteer there unless you need to...

We visited today after a long hiatus. This is certainly among the lamest museums we have ever had the misfortune to tour. It SHOULD be a repository of artifacts about the varied history, cultures and ethnicities that have built the City of Pueblo from the 1840s to present. What it IS is something different.

There are three sections. One gives a very brief history of the establishment of the original trading post/fort/community established in 1842 and its demise. The rest of the section focuses almost exclusively on the Hispanic people of the area as well as the indigenes. Display placards, all of which are in Spanish first, then English through the museum, consistent label American settlers as 'colonizers' and 'anglos' throughout. The second section, is dedicated completely to the steel industry labor movement in Pueblo. The third is about a small, fringe section of the city, featured because of the strong presence of citizens with Hispanic heritage.

There's a lot of wasted space in the attractive building. Years ago, it used to have many more artifacts and gave a somewhat more balanced presentation of the rich history of Pueblo. Most all artifacts that do not support the present narratives...

Horrible Staff Experience: There was a summer (2023) art program for middle school kids by ACES. With an Art Show at the end for family and friends to help build self respect, confidence and more.

Instead we (family, friends & the kids) were met with aggressive and hostile staff members who kept telling us to leave because of another event they scheduled at the same time. We had to call/text people and tell them to not bother coming at all. So sad this happened to these poor children.

Poor Planning: I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to put the art show in the very back end of the building making all of us have to go through the whole event giving the staff the most opportunities to accost us. When there was a clearly a room right at the front of the main entrance that it could have went into.

Plus they should not have the pay table immediately by the front door blocking the main entrance for safety reasons. This event did not need to be this awful. And not to mention that the event was for 13 to 21-year-olds. Sounds like an legal problem waiting to happen.

Definitely do not recommend this place and very...

Great small museum of local history, inexpensive and free for all kids. It's a series of galleries - one on the defunt Mineral Palace, one on the shifting borderlands between the US & Mexico (I hadn't realized it reached this far up), and another one about the Steel industry and the historic strike of the 80-90's. A Tipi is set up at the end of the hall and there are plaques about buffalo hunting and one about City Park, which I found interesting since I was there the day before. But almost worth the price of admission is the community gallery featuring art by Gregg Deal (which you might be able to visit for free - and you should.) During the summer, an outside trading post is open and there are lots of activities for kids, like a dress-up area & crafts. It took me about an hour to do a very thorough read-everything tour. Across the plaza is a shelter with a real archeological dig for the history of the town.

Friendly staff and wonderful bilingual exhibit on Borderlands of Southern Colorado featuring Original Treaty of Guadalupe- Hidalgo. A re-created 1840s adobe trading post and plaza, and the archeological excavation site of the original 1842 El Pueblo trading post. Nice little garden near front entrance with small fountains. Paddle boats that kids and mom and dad will enjoy at nearby Riverwalk pond. Enjoy!

Small museum about the history of El Pueblo. Nice to visit, we walked through it under 1 hour and read almost everything. Some nice things for kids to do, but could be more interactive. It was a bit boring for my school kid, 10. Staff was very sweet. There is also a little museum shop with some regional craft works and a small art gallery. We liked the time.
