I hadn't been to the Gold Dust for about 7+ years, and it was HORRIBLE!! First of all, when we got there we waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes before we were even approached and asked for drinks, we were not giving menus, and then our waitress came and asked us if we were ready to order. Well, how can we order if we do not have menus!? So secondly, we waited another at least 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, I ordered coffee and when our waitress brought all the drinks she did not bring my coffee I waited approximately 7 minutes, and then went and got a coffee cup from the bar and poured my own coffee! When our food arrived, I had ordered the soup and grilled cheese, and what I remembered the most about the gold dust was the potato soup. Well, what a disappointment that was it was lukewarm at best, and my grilled cheese sandwich was cold. We had ordered some cauliflower for an appetizer and it was horrible the amount of seasoning that was on there was just ridiculous, the girls with me ordered a basket of fries because hamburgers do not come with fries over there nowadays so which was very disheartening as much as you pay for a burger that was mediocre at best. The seasoning on the curly fries was so bad that the girls ate, maybe five fries from the entire basket. One of the waitresses who we later found out was the manager came storming from the bar to the kitchen which we were seated very close to the kitchen hollering about her customers come first and something I don't know and she appeared to look directly at our table as she was stating that. Needless to say, we were pretty upset that she appeared to have been directing her statements at us after all of the problems that we had already had. She never once before her hollering about her customers coming first, did she even come to apologize or try to make things right with the issues with the food and I thought that was a little unprofessional as far as a management position goes. She tried to offer us a gift card to make up for it, and we told her that that was not acceptable because we would not be returning ever! She did ultimately wind up comping our order, which we were grateful for. However, it was really disappointing to look forward to something that you remember and it being totally disgusting. The only thing that I would say is get it...

Ordered a sandwich via grubhub w/extra meat. Got the sandwich and it had no meat at all. Called the store and spoke to a nice lady whom tried to make it right, but when she asked the manager what to do, his only response was to call me tomorrow. That didn't work for me. I told them if they would remake it, I would drive down and exchange for the correct meal, but I wanted it prepared when I arrived, I didnt want to wait 15 minutes for them to make as I have company from out of town at my home. So I wait 5 minutes, leave and head that way. When I get there, the nice lady from the phone greeted me and got the manager, whom just stares at the computer looking for my order receipt that young lady already had pulled up for him. After a few minutes I ask if my order is ready and told her it if it wasnt, I'd just take my money back. The manager walks off and says "it's coming out now." Ok, so I take a seat and wait.. 12 minutes later, another young lady comes out of the kitchen with my order and apologizes. The only interaction I had with the manager were 4 words that he managed to say while not even looking in my direction and was either a lie, or it takes them 12 minutes to put a sandwich in box. . Whatever. I get home, open up my meal and... I got the hamburger, no bacon so they managed to get it at least half right. Thank god for small miracles I guess.
I ran multiple franchises in the food industry for over a decade, multiple stores on the front range. Gold dust owners, if you read this, you need a new manager. Someone who manages in this fashion would not be on my team. Judging from the number of times food left the kitchen and then was promptly returned just in the 12 minutes I sat there, I highly doubt I'm the only customer who shares...
Read moreThe Gold Dust has gone through a few iterations over the years but the most recent menu makeover and better quality dining tables and chairs made the visit more inviting. Menu is more diverse and unique and really makes you want to try several things... that a good sign. One major change is that everything is Ala Carte, and above average pricing. The chicken sandwich I ordered was almost $20... a price you'd expect to include fries and a drink, certainly surprising from a restaurant that is essentially just a bar. But ok, I don't mind that pricing method and amount if you're getting an exceptional product... unfortunately it wasn't and this is not due to the product itself but due to the type and execution of the bun it was served in. The bun is white and almost like a brioche bun but not quite. It's a very dense and heavy bun, and if it's not completely toasted and served immediately, it turns into hard and tasteless dough not letting you enjoy the rest of the sandwich. The chicken fillet was big, probably 6 oz or more and was hand breaded and fried perfectly. The cheese, pickles, lettuce and condiments were done well. When the server asked how things were I told her all was excellent except the bun. She immediately apologized and had the bun replaced. Great customer service but unfortunately, it was the same dense texture, so I enjoyed the product without the bun and was fine. My final point is that if an establishment chooses to charge very premium prices, every order needs to be of exceptional quality. Sorry but Gold Dust missed that boat this time. I hope they take a look at the bun type and serving process and make some improvements. If so, then the higher pricing will...
