Was here for 6 years. The only positives: Location is convenient, neighborhood is pretty and full of trees, it's affordable
Everything wrong: -Hundreds of dead bugs on the floor moving in. There was also poop in the toilet still. Did it never get cleaned? -SO much water damage everywhere: the ceiling, floors, and lots of baseboards were missing due to past wood rot. -The place smells of mold. It was so bad at first that you could taste it in the air. Front office kept dismissing us. The lady tried to tell me that the crusty spots near my windows were “normal” -Had to get a lot of repairs due to water damage: broken dryer pipe in the wall, leaking dishwasher, hole in the bathtub, multiple water leaks in the ceiling and our kitchen flooding -Maintenance is hit or miss. Sometimes they finish your work orders, sometimes they don’t (but still send you the survey asking how they did. Very nice) -The units are very small, dark, and do not ventilate air well. Expect insane electric bills. Your AC unit will break at least once a year -You share ventilation with your neighbor. If they cook weird food, you will smell it. If they smoke weed, you will be too -Thinnest walls and ceilings ever -PESTS: June is the beginning of the centipede invasion. Expect roaches and also mice (we had 7-8 that we caught)
THE LAST STRAW: -In our last year there, the current neighbors were an absolute nightmare. They blast music so loud your walls vibrate, sometimes at 5am. They leave trash EVERYWHERE (culdesac neighbors know). There’s so many empty beer bottles, caps, paper, solo cups, juice bottles, food, whatever just out in the walkway or in the grass. They have parties every weekend and block the walkway with their grills (yes multiple). They’re getting drunk at 10am in the culdesac and still drinking when I got home from work. They got in a fist fight outside once, too. That was cool. They raced their cars in the street at 2am before, leaving skid marks in the road. We used to feel safe here, and because of them, that stopped. -The front office is a joke. They will not answer calls or emails. One time I called every 30-60 minutes for 3 days straight because I actually wanted to tell them about the fist fight that happened outside, but they did not pick up the phone once. I had to leave work early to get to the front office and demand an explanation (“oh it’s just one person working and we’re trying to move things out of the space so the front office can be renovated” Sure, Jessica). I created a chain letter of an email when I tried to reach out to ask questions about not renewing our lease that they ignored for 2 weeks, and when someone DID finally answer the phone, all I got was sass from the front office worker saying “Oh we saw your email, yes” Ok then respond to it? And answer my question? The front office also had told us our last month’s prorated rent, but then when that month came around, they still tried to get us to pay full price, and I had to remind them to fix the price multiple times before they finally noticed. Apparently my emails kept going to their spam, so the manager said anyway (which I don’t believe because that was in response to a chain email that they had already responded to, so, either they moved it to spam or they’re lying). -Our last month we had no working AC. Asked maintenance to fix it multiple times, they did not. They gave us a portable AC unit as a temporary solution, which was better than nothing, but it was loud and caused my lights to flicker every 30 minutes because it hogged so much power. Made my electric bill even more expensive that last month. Asked to get rid of it/fix our AC one last time so we could have space for packing. They did nothing. -When we moved our furniture, we discovered a graveyard of centipedes from the years we lived there embedded into the corners of the walls, and mysterious water damage/mold on some of our furniture that we had to throw away (explains why roomie was sick for 3 months)
We are so glad to be out of here. It was cheap when we needed it, but...
Read moreTURN AROUND AND GO ELSE WHERE. I came across this complex during my search for a place to rent since I had found a new job in the Raleigh. It was conveniently close to my new job. When I toured the leasing agent sold the place really well. I was told it would be updated, new appliances, the small gym is an amenity open 24/7, since the floor plan did not have a washer dryer space a laundry room that would be open 24/7. The only units available would be on the second floor and only difference from one I viewed was my apartment would have carpet. At that time I asked specially carpet in the apartment other than the kitchen, dining room, and bathroom. Which I was told yes that is correct. On move in day that was not accurate there was carpet in the dining room. That was the first disappointment. I was also told how my unit was renovated was how it would stay. Well came home from work and the mirror in my bathroom had been changed without notifying me with holes left in the wall. Holes in wall eventually fixed by maintenance. The shower curtain rod was also damaged and has just drooped since. The old wire closet system in the bedroom closet had a bracket break. That was fixed a week later after reaching out about it several times. The closet system should have been updated when the apartment was updated since the wire shelves were slightly rusted and just panted over. The heating and ac unit randomly makes loud noises that can be heard from the bedroom and was just brushed off by maintenance as just being old. The renovations completed were not completed well because things have been gradually falling apart. Then to top it all off now that the pool is closed for the season the gym went from 24/7 access to just during business hours since the exterior access door is inside the pool area that is locked. This also leads to if you don’t live in the buildings around the leasing office you have to walk a good distance to get to sidewalk that leads to the laundry facility because if you try to go up the steps to the leasing office you have to walk though dirt to get to the backside of the leasing office since the pool is now closed. The management and maintenance are just a joke. It seems to be all about getting there money and not making sure residents are satisfied. I would recommend to look else were. I will when my lease comes to an end because I don’t have two months rent to get out of the lease.
Update: Management could not come to a conclusion to help make my living experience better. I’m now waiting on a response from corporate.
Update (3/16/25): Never received a response for the regional manager so just by my time until I can...
Read moreWhen we first moved into The Timbers apartments we fell in love instantly with the community the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They truly made living in an apartment community feel like home. This was when Bell Property Management ran our community. Shortly after we renewed our lease to live at the Timbers another year. Vesta Property Management took over. I didn't give another property management company taking over much thought. I have throughly enjoyed living at The Timbers I'm sure they will be just as amazing. I was wrong.
On one occasion Vesta Property Management lost my rent payment and tried to charge my family and I late fees. When I went to the office to ask about the letter I received on the door about my rent being late the girl explained she had misplaced my rent but had been meaning to contact me and that I shouldn't look so stressed. This happened a second time as well. I received another letter explaining that I owed two months of rent which I then again had to take time to go to the office to get taken care of. Last month they didn't even post rent online. My husband had to go to the office to pay rent. What is the point of having online rent payments if they won't post rent on time.
My other issue with Vesta Property Management is their maintenance team. I very rarely call for maintenance to fix anything that goes wrong. I tend to try to fix normal every day things myself. I have a leak in my bathroom from under the shower that is now causing black mildew start to form. When I called maintenance they said that there is no leak and that if I used a little bleach the black stains will just go away. My question to maintenance is "why is there water all over my bathroom floor leaking out of under the bathtub is there is no leak?" This week I had to submit another maintenance request. The thermostat for my stove and oven is not working properly and I'm pretty sure there is an electrical issue with my kitchen light. My husband received an email stating that the problem had been fixed. That however was a lie the light in the kitchen is still shining an eery red color. I had also, asked in my maintenance request to call before going. I have a small dog that I would have like to have put up but instead they just stopped by with no notification.
All of this to say when our lease ends next year my husband and I have already started looking for new places to live. With the way things are going we may not even make it to the end...
