Impulse is the newest roller coaster at Knoebels and it really shows. With its high tech vertical lift and compact layout, you know you are in for a real treat. As far as I could tell, it didn't disappoint. Every moment on this coaster was just so much fun. Even the lift hill was enjoyable. You feel like you are sliding back out of your seat. Some people may not like that but I sure do. Now the main problem that a lot of people have with this, and is the problem with most Zierer tower coasters, is the restraints. Over the drop they do ten to tighten like a lot. I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice that. It isn't unbearable but certainly somewhat annoying at points. However it didn't take away a whole lot from the experience. The drop was still pretty insane and the cobra roll right afterwards is really fun. This ride also provides a god amount of forces especially during the vertical loop. Then the ride does some turns and maneuvers into the best part of the ride, the heart-line roll. You get so much hangtime it's crazy. I just flung my hands up and let the forces take me. Then you go through a helix and hit the brakes. Thus ending the newest coaster at Knoebels. Does it have its share of problems? Yes, about every ride does. The ride does have a rattle and the restraints get annoying but it's still a solid ride. You will feel your "pulse" through your neck...
Read moreThis ride is a safety risk and a disaster waiting to happen. As you start off going vertically up and down, and later upside down several times, the only thing holding you to your seat is a single lower bar that lowers over your waist. No upper harness, no seatbelt, no redundancies. I'm disheartened by how so few understand the grave danger of this design; my girlfriend and I were mortified after riding it because we have long torsos and did not feel at all that a single bar over the waist was adequate to prevent fatally falling out of the ride. If I WANTED to, I bet I could have slipped out of my seat after a few tries – that should never be possible on a ride like this.
I don't mind the track itself, but this astonishing lack of safety inherent to the design of the seats made me worry that night about how long it will take before the ONE safety securing riders in place eventually fails one day.
Please don't take your loved ones on this ride, and if you ignore this advice, please be sure the bar on your waist cranks down with a locking noise before your ride begins. Mine initially did not, and it took an attendant pushing it down on top of my to actually secure my lifeline.
Whoever designed these seats needs to take immediate action to add safety...
Read moreThe only full size metal roller coaster in the park.. you go straight up then straight down dropping you very fast.. the cars have seat for eight, four in front and four behind.. smaller kiddos sit in booster seats and must sit in the back row. The roller coaster goes upside down as your spiral around corners. My son says the straight up part is the scariest because you do 90° straight up then it makes a 90° turn dropping you straight down don’t forget the smile on the down that’s where it takes your picture at the bottom:) then you roll around the twist interns then arrive back at the station.. every time you ride this most writers eyes are watering from the air and speed of the coaster.. ride wait times are not too bad.. they do have a shade canopy wait times are longer to keep you out...
