Since Cesari's has closed, I've ventured out and have been trying the different places around the park for actual food. Earlier in the month, we ate inside the restaurant. ONLY downfall was it was so cold (that was all my fault, we decided to go on & stand on the bridge of the Skloosh BEFORE we ate... Lesson learned, I'll never do that again, lol!). Had we not done that, it would have felt beautiful, with as hot as it was outside that day! We were seated right away and our order taken. We had gotten our meals. I went with the chicken finger basket with fries & apple sauce, coffee & soda (bc I was still planning on going on more rides & let's be honest, I didn't want to be stuffed to the brim & get sick all over the place!).
The serving size was hearty, the chicken fingers were so juicy & tender! The French fries were phenomenal & I absolutely adore their apple sauce! With all we ate, it didn't break the bank which was a huge plus!
TODAY, we went to the pool & learning my lesson from the last time, being wet- wasn't going inside, so we went to the outside half. 1st for regular food & than after for ice cream.
The outside is a little more costly than the inside with fewer options but the people are just as nice! The food is good! Got a double cheeseburger, chilli cheese dog, pickle on a stick, BBQ chips & lemonade in the Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary cup and ended with a Teaberry cone later on as we headed out for the day.
The elderly man who waited on me for my food was the sweetest: not only did he thank me for my Service, he also told me to go to Guest Services to get a book of tickets as a Thank you (I didn't have my ID on me, so I wasn't able to, but the gesture alone, meant the world!)
When I went to get my ice cream - the 2 kids (a female & one of the boys I know) BOTH asked if I ever even TRIED Teaberry before (o, I get it, it's an acquired taste!) I'm assuming to make sure I liked it 1st, because I can only imagine some people's reactions if they've never had it before (which is what I gather they feel about it, lol) I absolutely hate ice cream, it makes me sick; however if you're offering Teaberry - oh, it's on! I haven't had Teaberry in AGES the minute I tasted it, OMG, it brought me back to childhood.
So yes, on BOTH inside & out, they stand up to their rating, IMPO!
So, since Cesari's is no longer there- the Alamo & Oasis (which I believe is theirs too) are now my new...
Read moreWe visited due to it raining and we wanted indoor seating. Our six-year-old daughter had gotten soaking wet in the rain, most of it by her own doing, and we went to sit down. She was cold due to being wet and the air conditioning, and the hostess Marla gave her her fleece coat. The woman who saw us, Becky, also gave her her small sweater to keep her warm. We did not ask them to do this, but they offered it out of the kindness of their heart. Becky said she had a spare sweater in her locker so it would be no big deal. This was above and beyond what we could have expected. all I did was ask if they had a gift shop so I could buy my daughter a dry T-shirt and they offered their own coats to her. It brought a tear to my eye. So sweet. We even attempted to tip both of them with cash on our way out , and they politely refused. All they wanted to know is if she remained warm during her stay. The food was average, although the onion rings were some of the best I’ve ever ever had. But that level of Customer Service will have us coming back every time we visit the park. I hope the manager of the Alamo reads this . Please please give Marla and Becky a public acknowledgment. As someone who worked in Customer Service for years, you praise in public and coach in private. The way we retreated by every staff member there was fantastic. But I honestly feel like Marla and Becky deserve some sort of extra recognition, praise, or a day...
Read moreThe Alamo is essentially a diner. There, the secret is out and now we can get to some realistic reviews/ratings. I'm stingy with my stars, so even a really nice place with in house prepared (from scratch) would get only 4 stars, unless they were just, that, unique/great.
So three stars.. why not four? The food is decently good; I only ever have the turkey dinner, with mashed potatoes and baked beans as the two sides. Naturally, I use the entire gravy boat. I wish I could rant and rave about it, but, I cannot. However..
I will praise the service I and my family receives when we visit. That would be by none other than Caden. His attentiveness and professional pleasantries that he extends to our family (and trust me when I tell you, my family can be trying at times) is second to none. We've only had him as our waitstaff each of our two visits to Knoebels, so I cannot speak as to any other employees here, aside from some "elderly ladies" (as one reviewer put it) at the entrance, who, by-the-way, never treated me like "a mean grandma" (maybe your grandma was mean to you for a reason reviewer? but I digress).
All-in-all, it's a diner, tucked away in a wonderfully stress free environment (unlike the bigger parks in PA - nothing against them, but, they are far more commercialized feeling than Knoebels), that we'll hold out from eating lunch on the hour and a half...
