Carmichael Park Off Leash Dog Park — Attraction in Rancho Cordova

This is my preferred dog park in this area, but it is only because of the staff and the owners who attend who are responsible. I like that it is maintained and that poop bags are available all the time.

That being said, I wish there were additional amenities for the dogs. Perhaps a dog agility course, some interactive dog playground toys, etc.

Half of the people who bring their dogs here are fine, but there are also many owners who are clearly uneducated about the rules of dog parks. If your dog is aggressive, you need behavioral training for them. This is not the place for you.

Many people bring puppies before they are 16 weeks and have had their last rounds of shots. Please just take your new baby to puppy play dates. They could die if they are exposed to Parvo.

If your dog is in heat, don't bring them to the dog park. If you're not going to keep an eye on your dog, don't bring them to the dog park. It is frustrating to have to break up dog fights because owners don't do their research and that happens at this dog park more than any other I have ever been to but this is the one that is the closest to my house and is properly...

I love this place. No matter when you show up, there's gonna be another dog that Domino can play with. Unless we get there first, of course, but the chances of that happening aren't very good. Lol. And most places are closed at dusk because parks usually close at dusk. Which is at 5:00 sometimes. But Carmichael park, itself, doesn't close until 11:00 p.m., for whatever reason, and I looked everywhere for a schedule for the dog park, but there aren't any hours posted anywhere. I've been there after 10:00pm because me and one other dog owner were gonna see what time we got kicked out since we were already there at 9:00, but we both left before anyone came at 10:30 or so, and I just left there right now, and it's 7:10 and dark, so it's open late. And it's really big too, which is cool, because sometimes I'm not trying to interact with a bunch of people, this place is big enough that I can just walk laps while my my dog plays. My dog loves this park. This park has friendly people, security and lots of parking. There's a small dog park and a big dog park. Poop bags are accessible. Right next to the post office. I will recommend this park to my friends and family, and I will return. 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025 May Update: I go to this park if I want to let my dog run around without a leash. It's not recommended but it's a good part with a big size and you have plenty of room to do this kind of thing. Just look for a space that's empty. Your dog will enjoy running around without a lease.
