Used to be my favorite spot. Views are still amazing especially on a clear day.. I've probably walked on every trail.
But, so many changes makes it less enticing to visit. I suppose that's the goal with the residents. Parking went from anywhere to almost no where and not only charging to park, but must do it in advance.. Even if there's a spot, and you want to pay the fee and service charge. You are not allowed to do same day parking.. free parking can be found off Crest walk is about half mile
Because of the parking there's a lot less people. But, with Les people some feel better about disposing outdoors.. I found toilet paper in the upper park area.
I've hung at the park twice without resident pass. Both tuneys I saw the ticket man.The ticket guy comes often..he wouldn't even let me sit in front of my car to finish my meditation.. While there were at least ten open spots
The trails have lost the beauty as well.. Invasive milk weed moved in killing everything. Now it's dried up weed everywhere. The hike looks...
Read moreThe view from this park doesn't compare to the views that hundred dollar resort hotels you'll find along the Pacific coast offer to you. This humble little park is located within an urban area and due to its size; there is no public services (bathrooms, drinking fountains, etc).
This site used to be the location of Nike LA-55c launch site. Any remains of this facility are now gone and only a huge rock commemorates this site at the entrance of this park.
Getting to this park is long, but amazingly very easy to get to. If you are around Torrance area, just take Crenshaw Blvd South. That is all you need to do to get to this area. You will do a few mountain-like turns uphill, but just as long as you don’t make any direct right hand/left hand turns at any signal, you’ll eventually get to the park.
This is a cute little park to spend an hour or two with someone you love. Come to this place on a clear day, when it’s windy; avoid it since it can...
Read moreThis is honestly a gorgeous park on a clear day. One star because despite it actually being a “public” park (which it is, technically), the wealthy local residents have been able to continually restrict access year over year. This used to be open to all, and now the parking lot is resident only. Street parking used to be available, and now it’s either permitted resident only, or advanced reservations required, charged for, and time limited. Sure, you can park further down on Crenshaw, a busy street with much higher traffic (more dangerous to stop and park than in a slow residential area), which limits access to less able people, but there’s zero reason you can’t park on the PUBLIC streets surrounding the park (or in the parking lot on public land) except the residents don’t want that kind of element (regular people) in their neighborhood. They say it’s for “safety”, but...
