Beautiful and calm place. Mixed access trails, horses🏇, bikes🚴, pedestrian🏃. There are plenty of trail paths for desired workout level. The main Burma Rd "S" trail is fairly easy, slow steady decline and is about a mile and half from begining at the top of the hill (where Crenshaw ends) to where it splits off at the 3 section fork. There's trails that are more difficult you just have to go off from the main and zig zag around. There's two porta pottys about a half mile down Burma trail always fairly clean, so please help keep it that way. Parking. There's plenty of parking on Crenshaw before Crest Rd, and on Crest Rd but it gets full pretty full early on. There's new parking rates on Crenshaw past Crest which is $10 for 2hr 45min slots which is pretty pricey but if you're that lazy to walk TWO extra blocks to a trail that is 3+miles then go ahead and pay it up ha. 🤣 Please keep it clean! We need to preserve this place. And remember, NOBODY wants to hear your music! Don't be THAT...
Read morePortuguese Bend is my new favorite place to hike. First of all, it's in the beautiful neighborhood of Palos Verdes... gorgeous homes and winding roads lined with palms and eucalyptus. 🌿🌴 The paths are clear and start at the top of the hill and eventually wind down all sorts of ways. The scenery changes as new plants are introduced. At times you can see everything around you...at times you are in a narrow path lined with tall "sticks" filled with foam and delicate little plants sprouting with the teeniest yellow buds only to emerge in an open space with green field and a great view of the homes overlooking this amazing place. There are plenty of opportunities to overlook the ocean and Catalina island as you are high above, though I do believe different paths can continue down to the coast but still a beautiful view of the ocean, just closer and more below. The way back up can be steep on some paths, a bit less on others, but uphill nonetheless and a great...
Read moreFor so many years I didn't even know this was in my own "backyard." I recently discovered this and all the many trails the reserves contain and I'm just blown away. You'll never beat the woodsy feel of walking, biking or horseback riding on these dusty, rocky trails all while having the best view of the Pacific Ocean, luxurious homes and coastal roads right by the shore. A fantastic way to exercise and see some amazing sights. I'm addicted to hiking all the various trails that all the reserves provide, which is like around 50 or so trails! You'll have nothing short of a blast! The only sort of downside is the lack of parking, especially on weekends, but they do offer a free shuttle! Wear hiking shoes or boots, bring water, snacks and a backpack and a camera and you won't regret spending most of...
