I am extremely disappointed with my recent experiences at the Redford Library. As a long-time patron, I have always appreciated the resources and services provided, but lately, the behavior of the staff has been concerning. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed and experienced demeaning and racially insensitive interactions from certain staff members.
For example, one incident involved a staff member speaking condescendingly to a patron, which made both the patron and myself feel very uncomfortable. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any public service setting, especially in a community resource like the library, which should be a place of inclusion and respect.
The repeated nature of these incidents suggests a systemic issue that needs to be addressed. I urge the library administration to take immediate action, such as providing additional training on cultural competence and sensitivity to ensure all patrons feel safe and respected.

Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at the Redford Township Library today and wanted to share it.
Earlier today, I was almost involved in a serious car accident due to another driver texting on the road. In the process of swerving to avoid the collision, my water bottle spilled and slightly wet the book I had borrowed from the library.

As a college student trying to make ends meet, the charge was a significant burden. The lack of empathy in this situation was really disappointing. Because of this experience, I will be looking to access my media online instead of returning to the library.
I hope this feedback helps improve future...
Read moreI LOVE the Redford Township District Library. They have a much more diversified and larger collection of books, Visa is accepted for payments, computer usage is for 4 hours with minimal charge, and study rooms are available for serious study and quiet. It is quiet and patrons do not eat meals at the computers as the librarian walks by with no comment. Also, children have library-appropriate behavior. This library makes the Detroit Public Library branches feel archaic and acutely obsolete and in need of many changes. The copier machine works effortlessly, and tax forms are retrieved for you from the librarian and printed for you. This LIBRARY IS AWESOME, AND STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL! MOST importantly, the books are clean and free of graffiti and NOT water damaged as some books on the shelves of...
