My dog Banjo and I went to check this place out and it was just as beautiful as I remember....actually better! Very well maintained, lots of beautiful flowers, plenty of benches to take a chill break or enjoy the serenity. The railroad bridge was magnificent. The "little mack bridge" was just as wonderful as it was when I went there as a child and when I took my children here a few years back to see the MIGHTY "little mack". Lots of nice people along the way. Beautiful!
We followed along the main trail for about an hour so, I look forward to going back and explore more. Banjo had a blast!!! Smelling the smells every six feet and saying hello to everyone!!! Dog, on a leash, friendly, I didn't find any dog poop either (not a single pile) and very very little trash! That tells me the folks who take care of and visit here care about this beautiful iconic park.
Everytime I've stopped through the years it has been has been memorable in a positive way, a walk down memory lane for sure but always better, improved in one way or another. Thank you! A perfect fall day adventure with my pooch at a wonderful place just down the road from my house. Thank...
Read moreStayed here for six nights about two weeks ago. This place was amazing. One of the better campgrounds I’ve been to for RV camping. We had the end spot by the amphitheater which was great for when they had live music. We just pulled our chairs out and enjoyed. Excellent walking trails in both directions. Very neat suspended bridge. Had a small playground that was excellent for all aged children. Bathrooms and showers were excellently maintained and very clean. The whole campground is very beautiful landscaped and maintained. If I came back to this area I would 100% stay here again. The woman running the campground was very personable and extremely sweet. Sites had both water and electric hook ups as well as a fire pit and picnic table. Dumping station was located conveniently near the exit but the hose was very short, so if you have a longer hose I’d use your own. The price was extremely reasonable and affordable. Overall it was a hidden gem! An excellent...
Read moreSweet park that is a hidden gem just north of Reed City! This well kept park with mature trees is perfect for tent and RV camping alike since the sites are good size with fire pits, water and electricity included for each. Clean lavatories with showers are just a short walk from each camp site. A wonderful large playground occupies one end, and a band shell at the other end. Do walk the Little Mac suspension bridge to The Purple Heart park that follows the River and seems to go on endlessly. This park is perfect for bicyclists eager to ride the excellent Pere Marquette and White Pine Trails in north central Michigan which intersect just south of their stately & unique Reed City train depot. Lots to explore and enjoy no matter which direction you bike. Friendly, welcoming residents and good local eateries too. I hesitate to brag about this hidden gem, because we do plan to return soon and this is where we will...
