I had my wedding at this courtyard by Marriott in Richland on May 20th 2017. I would NEVER recommend anyone to hold their wedding at this location. The only good thing about the venue was the surrounding area around it. To name a few problems I had with this establishment are
The Director of Sales at the courtyard by Marriott who had been helping me plan my wedding the entire time did not book my wedding suite for the first night we arrived. I had multiple emails including a contract saying they were going to comp me a wedding suite for Friday and Saturday night. When I go to check in Friday night, they no longer have any suites available.
The bartender who was serving at my wedding was the most RUDE girl I have ever met. I had complaint upon complaint about her attitude against my guest and her horrible service. I should not have to worry if the bartender at my wedding that I paid for the service for is being RUDE and MEAN to my guest.
The manager the night of my wedding at the hotel "spotted" people in the parking lot doing drugs. He had to audacity to tell the DJ to announce over the speakers to "shut this party down. you can take it to a club or wherever but were shutting you down due to illegal narcotics" When we approached him about the situation, we asked him if it was one of our guest doing the drugs and he says "I don't know" then when we ask his what kind of drugs they were doing, he again says "I Don't know". After giving him an earful he finally makes the right decision about letting us proceeded with the wedding that I had paid ALOT of money for.
The communication of the staff was horrible. They messed up the reader board saying it was the "Cole wedding" (Bride's last name) and didn't even mention the groom's name at all on the board. Again when we approached the staff about this problem they said "We just put what the paperwork say up on the board"
Overall the most disappointing situation of all was the response I got back from the Director of Sales regarding all of theses situations. She said "these are all great learning and coaching opportunities for our staff and they will be addressed", "I did speak to the gentleman that was the Manager on Duty that night and he did let me know that he had asked the DJ to turn down the music several times, but that he did not have the DJ announce anything about drug use." so now we have an ethical issue with the manager that night lying about what he told the DJ to announce. If he didn't tell the DJ to announce that message then how did the DJ know about the "illegal narcotics"? and last she said "Again, I am very sorry that your special day didn’t go as planned and I truly wish things would have gone more smoothly for you and your family" I did not pay A LOT of money to have my wedding as a "coaching opportunity" for your staff. I did not pay A LOT of money to be called a liar because your manager that night is trying to save his A**. I did not pay A LOT of money to have your staff embarrass me, my husband, and my family in front of all of my guest that night and I did not pay A LOT of money to have my wedding treated with such disrespect and treated like an inconvenience by the Courtyard By Marriott. So again I will NEVER recommend this facility to anyone ever especially if you are considering hosting your...
Read moreWe stayed one night the first of January 2022. I requested a sweet with a fireplace and a jacuzzi. I was told they only have 4 rooms with jacuzzis but only one tub actually works. So if someone else with a membership requested a sweet, I wouldn't get the one that works. Cool. . .Thankfully, ours did work and it was nice. The bed was comfortable. The view was gorgeous. Fridge was cold and there was a nice fire place to boot. Score! .... Keep reading 😖 Here's where they went wrong. Trying to come into the building through a side entrance was absoutly shady! The locks on their doors had obviously been broken into before and worked poorly. Proceeding to the elevator we came across the pool area where the wall was literally peeling off because of water damage into the wall was seeping all the way through! They didn't even try to hide it. No shame. Also, peeking through the window, hot tub was empty. 😡 Most likely to prevent further damage to the wall. But lame all the same. Especially cause their website mentioned NOTHING ABOUT CONSTRUCTION. Oh forgot to mention, that when we checked in there was a giant area in the lobby that is obviously being worked on... but is it being worked on? Or are they just hiding massive damage? Dunno. Alright, up to the 3rd floor we go where the elevator smelled HORRIFIC! After more use of this elevator I decide the stench was happening because of the smoking level. Smokers need to have their own building cuz that nastiness seeps! Blah! We find our room alright and it was honestly lacking luster. For the SWEET, I expected more. It was all basic and old. Upon further inspection there was dust on the fireplace, the random door that they prevented us from going into, and other random items in the room. The couch was ugly, scratchy, and sank. I put a blanket on it just to get comfortable watching a movie. Plus I moved the table out of the way and put a chair infront of the couch so we could sit comfortably. No joke, the coffee table was taller than the couch. 😒 Forgot again, so we're getting cozy on the couch and I'm looking for an extra blanket. I open the closet and the door which had massive damage and it falls off its railing. It did this every time I opened the closet! Proceeding into the bathroom, the walls in the shower area were dirty! I could literally see where they had wiped and not. Plus there was mold where the entrance is for maintenance in the lower compartment. I have a few other things to comment on, but I'll leave it at that for the room. Then to TOP IT OFF!! .. Check out isn't until 12pm so why on earth did we have a knock at the door at 9am for house cleaning?!?! They literally tried to come into our room while we were still sleeping, at 9am. Had to YELL at them to go away....
Read moreObligatory "I would give zero stars if I could". Long story short, their deceptive/false advertising for their available rooms very nearly ruined my anniversary weekend.
I booked a king room with water view, complete with whirlpool tub for my anniversary weekend over the Memorial Day holiday for a total of $255/night. We live about 3 hours away and wanted to stay in the area because we are considering buying a home in Tri-Cities and wanted to check it out.
What we got when we arrived was nothing short of being catfished. Room 319 (the numbers add up to 13, funnily enough) was not what we drove to and paid for. What we got was what Melody at the front desk referred to as an "accessible room", one which she swore had a whirlpool tub. Not only was it NOT a 2-person whirlpool tub (I have a photo on Yelp showing this), but actually shallower than a standard tub. This wasn't even the worst part, either. What I CAN'T post is the small strange locked closet that was in our room that produced the worst noise that is similar to a commercial a/c condenser unit (think the ones on roofs/outside of houses). I have no idea what was in this closet that would make this continuous noise, but Melody swore to us that no one had complained prior and that "maybe it isn't on continuously?".
Originally we went to the reception area with the idea of a room credit in mind due to room not having a whirlpool tub as advertised (we were offered a $40 credit for this), however on going back into the room and hearing what an awful noise that it would be filled with we had to ask ourselves if we could really sleep there. The answer was NO, when we closed the door to the bedroom the noise got WORSE- think like a horrible booming continuous bass.
They had no other rooms available to us due to the holiday weekend, nor did the other hotels we attempted to stay at. So we had our dinner at the restaurant we planned to eat at, and drove the 3 hours back home afterwards.
I am disappointed with this place, not only for obvious false advertising reasons, but the fact that Melody at the front desk almost refused to believe the tub wasn't correct and that the room had a horrible noise issue. Why would we make this up? Why not come up and look for yourself and tell me if you want to sleep here for your anniversary weekend? Also, THIS was the room they give to people who require accessible rooms!? Unbelievable.
Never will I stay at a Marriott because of my experience with this place, they need to do a room audit and price/list their rooms accordingly.
STAY AWAY...
