Maury & Mt Olivet Cemetery — Attraction in Richmond

If you ever have to bury your love one here, please make sure that after their memorial service you know of their exact placement!!! Thank God my sister stayed behind after my grandmothers burial, witness her placement in the ground, and took photos and videos throughout the process! Recently, Maury Cemetery had my grandmother’s tombstone placed on someone’s else burial site. I called the tombstone company to have it removed, because we knew the placement wasn’t right. We had photos and videos to back it up. But the Cemetery staff called us liars, and said the stone was in the right place. My sister and I literally decorated my grandmothers site the following day after her burial, so that we would know her exact location! After going back and forth for the correction, this morning they finally admitted it was the wrong placement and had her stone moved into the correct placement. However, we received no apologies, after being called liars, and no correct answer as to how they messed up their books and had her name on someone’s else burial site. This is supposed to be a happy moment for my family, as we still grieve over our loss. My family put out a great penny to have a nice stone on my grandmother's burial. I’m putting this out, because if they messed up on my loved ones burial, image how many other families loved ones are misplaced. If we didn’t fight for this, or didn’t know my grandmothers placement her stone would placed on someone’s else burial site!! I wish I could...

My family has had our loved ones buried here for years. I bought granite vases for my mother and fathers stone. Both of the vases were knocked off. I can only assume it was by the care takers. My brothers stone has been falling backwards for years. Have gone and talked to the ground keepers. Said they would fix it. 5 yrs later... still not fixed! Not the Cemetery...

So sad 😞 I visited my mothers grave and was so shocked what it looked like! Awful grass has taken over everything. Today is her Birthday and I can’t even put flowers out, because they said they would have her grass cut yesterday. Well guess what...
