Go see the recently restored Victor Arnauthoff mural! One of the great Depression era muralists working for FDR's public works administration Arnauthoff painted and supervised the Coit Tower murals. More recently his "Life of Washington" ... which explicitly (and correctly) shows Washington's involvment in slavery (as an owner of slaves) and the early colonial record of aggression towards native Americans ... has been the center of a storm of controversy as it's removal has been promoted by politically correct "identity politics" folks. Read moreThis place was awesome. After living in Richmind 3 years, I finally managed to visit and I am so glad I did. Cool old maps of the area showing the ranches and properties before incorporation and lots of interesting exhibits and photos. The highlight is a Model A Ford, manufactured at the Ford plant in Richmond, on display which had been used for years as a municipal car and then restored and contributed to the museum. The building is an old Carnegie Library building as well. Not the greatest neighborhood, but, hey, it's Richmond, not Beverly Hills! Definitely worth a visit, especially before or after seeing the Rosie The Riveter National...
