This is a wonderful memorial. I enjoyed walking through on my visit to VUU. It would be nice if it were better cared for. However, I still appreciated the sentiment and thought put into developing the trail. At one point, the trail through the woods ceased and there were no directions. I ended up walking further, under the overpass, just for the steps and notice what looked like information plaques above. So, I walked back and went up through a gated drive. To my surprise, there were two more trail plaques up above. Unfortunately, I would have missed this if I hadn't taken time to explore further. Some signage would be beneficial. So if you like to fish you'll enjoy that. About a quarter of a mile in you get past the fishing and get to enjoy the hike. I love the makers that they have set up along the hike. You can also see evidence of iron works still in the ground from where the ships used to dock or hold their cargo. If you would like to learn something about African American slavery I would definitely suggest visiting...
