We performed homam here. We were satisfied but do have some concerns. Proper information about how much to pay for the services, dakshina etc., were not provided when we called the temple initially. They made us believe that the homam was scheduled but two days before they denied of anything being scheduled and no priest assigned. All this after taking days off from work, buying most of everything needed to perform the homam, staying at a hotel(since we are not from the area). After the homam and paying all the money they demanded, the management says that the whole situation was because of the volunteers that attended the phone calls. Shouldn't they be giving us all the right and necessary details? And even dakshina was being demanded to be a certain amount. Our only suggestion to anyone that would want to get something done at the temple would be to get the correct list of items, quantities, price details for the services and dakshina, all in writing before proceeding with the plans. And do not let the priests or anyone demand more dakshina. This is to share our experience and only to help devotees have a detailed idea of what could possibly go wrong. After all, we want a good feeling after performing the homam.
UPDATE : I received a threatening email today from someone at the temple saying that I would incur negative karma for writing this review. This review is ONLY to help those who would perform any homams in future, especially when those who pick the calls at the temple are not doing their job properly. We attempt to perform homams during our difficult times...we should not be taken advantage of it. I have received many emails again from the same person who claims to be at the temple. The reason I mentioned to clarify the quantities of items is because.. for eg. the list says rice flour (10 lbs) while it is only used for abit of Rangoli and Rice (20lbs) while only 5 lbs would be sufficient. I thought I wouldn't be so elaborate but want to make things clear. My only concern/request is that if some idea is given to the devotee as to what their estimates are regarding the dakshina, it helps, especially when things got tough after Covid. There's a difference between $100 and $300.Getting all the information before hand helps the devotee since it involves the money of the devotee. A bit of understanding about the concerns on the other end only helps. This is not about the temple or homam or any particular individual but the process.
UPDATE :I have received email again from this person saying that I'm doing Covid dance in this review. Extremely rude people. There's a young lady at the front desk. I'm guessing she's the one sending me emails.we are supposed to get peace of mind when we go to the temple. When I left the fruits and prasad after the homam in the temple for devotees to take some on their way out, this young lady was rude saying "Who wants those that you already offered to the goddess?" I have never seen a person talk in this tone in the temple. Then she started eating the coconut after 2 minutes.
The reason for this post is not to defame anyone. Since the homam is already pricey, it helps if money is not DEMANDED for other things. If there's a chance that the devotee has to pay, let the devotees know before hand rather than giving a surprise. I sincerely don't want anyone else to go through similar experience. This is not how the things at temples should work.
Going through difficult times and hence had to get the homam performed... Probably never...
Read moreA Spiritual Gem in Metro Atlanta – A Must-Visit Hindu Temple
This temple is truly one of the oldest and most cherished spiritual landmarks in the Metro Atlanta area. Set slightly on an elevated spot, the moment you take darshan of Lord Balaji, it brings back vivid memories of Tirupati—an experience that feels both divine and deeply nostalgic.
The atmosphere is peaceful, and the priests and front desk staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. Every visit feels special, and the temple community goes above and beyond to keep the space vibrant. Even when there are no major religious festivals, there’s always something happening—be it spiritual, cultural, or community-driven.
The temple houses a beautifully maintained auditorium where I’ve had the pleasure of attending Carnatic music recitals and spiritual discourses. There’s also a grand yagna shala right in front of the Shiva temple, adding to the sacred energy of the space.
The temple is home to many deities, including Lord Balaji, Mahalakshmi, Aandal, Garuda, Anjaneyar, and more. It’s a place that caters to both individual devotion and family visits. I make it a point to come at least once every month.
One more thing—don’t miss the weekend food sales! It’s probably the second biggest attraction after the deities themselves. Fresh, delicious, and made with love, the prasad and food offerings complete the temple experience beautifully.
If you’re visiting from outside Atlanta, this temple should definitely be on your list. It’s more than just a place of worship—it’s a sanctuary for...
