I go here almost all the time, Sun Shine, Rain, or even snow. I mostly spend my 2 hours there lapping around the whole park on my bike. When I am there through, there's lots of kids and lots of people around. One of the popular activities I see there, is Pickleball. There's about 6 stations in the area. Usually only 4 are being used. There is also a new working water fountain right near the courts. So if your into the Sport, I suggest giving it a try! Also there is a beach ball net, with sand nearby, but basically nobody uses it.
If you have a dog, there's a big fenced of dog park to the left right as you enter. There's usually not had much people at the dog park, and parking will almost never be an issue. Occasionally though, there is a train that passes by, but it's a "No Horn Zone" so it won't spook your doggo(s).
By the way, if you have an electric car, there is a charging station right across from the Pickleball Courts. (Last Image)
How could 8 write a review with mentioning the Missouri River. Also while I'm there, I see a few people every once in a while coming fishing by the shore (at the end of the parking lot, passed the fence, and down the hill). One thing that really stands out is a stage. A very desolate stage. I don't think it's ever been used in over a decade. Besides that, it's really nice shade! (2nd Image)
As a park should, there is restrooms. But the water fountains currently do not work. You'd have to walk/bike all the way down to the end, where there us a singular fountain, that constantly runs water. TIP: it's like a game, you have to hit the button just hard enough to get the maximum height of the water, if you were to fill water bottle.
There's lots of trees for at the kids park, so shade is no problem and sunburns are low risk.
This park is fairly new, after the old one being flooded a few times in the past, I'd say, they did a nice job on it! So at the chance you do go, there could be a 50/50 chance you do see me riding my bike around the park. (3rd...
Read moreThis is a great park! Riverside is fantastic at ensuring all of the playground equipment is safe! I mentioned one of the swings raised up out of the ground when you swing on it on FB, it doesn’t do that anymore! There are trails that are paved, a huge pickleball area, a dog park. All of it’s practically brand new! On the weekends large groups tend to gather at the various shelters in the park, unfortunately some of them do tend to leave a shitload of trash behind but Riverside maintenance crews works really hard to keep the litter picked up. I lived in Riverside for 5 years went to the park daily, it’s never actual residents .. always KS plates people. (Yes, calling yall out! Pick up after yourselves.). Thats a shame they don’t have any desire to keep the park nice but Riverside really can’t be beat on maintenance and ensuring it’s still a nice place for the rest of us. The river is beautiful to watch at this park. I’ve since moved to other side of NKC but I still drive over to this park fairly regularly. It’s well lit at night. Cops do patrol the park frequently, have always felt safe. Ha! It’s kinda cute .. they have a couple slides that are pretty macho slides! Very tall and dark in the middle! .. Your kid will feel like a badass if they’ve never done it before. Mine was so proud of herself that 1st time. Be mindful of the big metal slide. It’s hot/cold and FAST, the steps are sketchy for the clumsies and non clumsies alike. They just are .. you’ll see! It’s a great park though. Love...
Read moreI love this park. It's my daughter's favorite. Tried to take her there on Friday, 8/6 and noticed it was closed - all weekend. Blocked off with a sign stating they were having a "private event".
If you're a public park that subsists off tax dollars (especially one that just had a major renovation that cost millions - again, taxpayer funded) you don't get to exclude the public . Try explaining to a 7 year old that she can't go to her favorite park because a company or organization with deep pockets paid the city a bunch of money to keep her and the rest of the public out for an entire weekend. Don't think a 7 year old would understand that? Well you're right. She didn't. To be honest, neither do I.
This is shameful. You're either a public park who excepts public funds to operate or you're a private event space who takes private...
