I had the pleasure of visiting the Manatee Lagoon Center on a sunny afternoon, making it the perfect complement to a morning spent at the zoo. The center's main attraction is undoubtedly the manatees when they are around, and I was excited to learn that they prefer warmer water. Fortunately, there's a nearby power plant that helps keep the water temperature cozy during the winter months, making it the best time to catch a glimpse of these gentle giants. Though, on my visit, I could spot only a couple of them lingering in the deeper parts of the water. The center itself is a small but educational building that emphasizes the importance of preserving manatees and ocean life. I was impressed with their efforts to spread awareness and promote conservation. What's more, the best part was that the admission was entirely free, making it accessible to all visitors. The tour took around an hour, giving ample time to stroll around and take in the fascinating exhibits. The building had an upstairs area with a small art gallery, and I noticed what appeared to be a conference room and an observation deck, adding versatility to the space. Cleanliness is always crucial to me, and I was pleased to find the Manatee Lagoon Center impeccably maintained. The bathrooms were clean and tidy, which is always a good sign of a well-managed establishment. The ambiance was incredibly relaxing, providing a serene environment to learn and appreciate these wonderful creatures. Being close to nature and understanding its significance left a lasting impression on me. It's an ideal place to wind down and connect with the marine world. Overall, my visit to the Manatee Lagoon Center was enjoyable and enlightening. If you have an interest in marine life preservation or simply want a peaceful escape from the bustle of everyday life, I highly recommend stopping by this gem of a place. Whether you're a local or a tourist, the experience is both educational and rejuvenating, and the best part is, it won't cost you a dime.

Prior to your visit go on there website and check out the Manatee cam. As one of the managers explained Manatee's are notorious for no-shows. Nonetheless, If you have kids and need something free to do, bring them here. What they offer? (From their website) There are other fun family options that are offered at Manatee Lagoon throughout the year. Manatee Lagoon staffers have created an extensive calendar of activities, ranging from daily educational presentations, yoga on the waterfront observation deck, programs for kids to story and more. Visit our events calendar to access the schedule and registration details. Manatee Lagoon is one of Palm Beach County's fun and engaging family-friendly attractions, with interactive, entertaining exhibits that tickle your curiosity about the environment of the Lake Worth Lagoon and the wonderful world of manatees. The only downside is I needed to know if they had wheel chairs available and because the city runs it ,the call goes directly to the power and light company which doesn't make sense. If you are not on the property how are you able to answer customers questions?

I am a manatee fanatee and this is where I can catch a glimpse of the stars of the Florida waterways. FPL built this brand new eco center a year ago. There is no admission charge to come in. The building is two floors housing manatee displays and a small gift shop. On the outside is a snack bar. Manatees can be viewed either from the ground floor or the upstairs balcony. They like to gather where the warm water is discharged from the power plant. The best time to see them is in the winter when we get a prolonged cold snap of at least two to three days. They like sunny cold weather. As soon as the waterway temperature equals the discharge water temperature they are back out in search of sea grass. Today was the perfect conditions, there were 169! It is so amazing to watch them in the wild like they are meant to be instead of penned up in an aquarium. You cannot feed them because they are protected wildlife. Just enjoy watching them do what manatees do. Check the manatee cam before you go to see if the manatees are present that day. Thank you FPL for this wonderful center.

A great place to learn about manatees and see them in the wild… if you’re lucky! We visited this place and had a great experience learning about manatees and enjoying the view and the breeze; however, we were unable to see any manatee. Guides told us the best time to visit is between November and March, when the sea waters are cooler so manatees come to this place because of the warmer temperatures. They also told us that manatees can be seen during the summer too, just not as frequent as during the fall/winter. They have a really nice shop to get souvenirs. The cotton fabric of both t-shirts and hoodies are really good quality, super soft to the touch. The place offers sensory friendly days for autistic individuals and others with sensory needs. They also have a wide variety of activities, including yoga sessions in the afternoons. Lastly, they were really kind and offer accommodations for elder people, which made our visit more pleasant. Access is free —donations recommended— and there’s no need to book tickets. There’s plenty of free parking.

Manatee Lagoon - A Must-Visit Experience! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Manatee Lagoon, and it was an incredibly fun and educational experience! The highlight, of course, was getting to see the manatees up close in their natural habitat. These gentle giants are truly fascinating to watch as they glide through the water. The facility itself is well-maintained, with plenty of informative exhibits about manatee conservation and the surrounding ecosystem. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and provide insights about these amazing creatures. One of the best parts was the viewing platform, which offers a great vantage point to spot the manatees, especially during the cooler months when they gather in the warmer waters near the lagoon. It’s a peaceful and serene setting, perfect for both kids and adults. Overall, Manatee Lagoon is a fantastic place to learn about and appreciate Florida’s unique wildlife. I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area!
