I did a lot of research on dive charters before I picked Walkers. I have been on charters which cost exactly the same, but I could have used a bad month's commission check to buy the tiny boat in cash; thus, I came to the determination to never spend my hard earned money to be miserable. This is where I found Walkers, the boat is clean, incredibly spacious, and comfortable, this is a professional dive operators boat. In fact, Walkers was even open on Thanksgiving day, a blessing for us.
Adding on to this, Walkers and their crew are also professionals in their field. They have a wealth of knowledge to share and are friendly. How friendly? Well, my wife is new to diving and sometimes is overwhelmed; thus, she was having a "moment", but this was where not only the professionalism, but the caring and understanding nature of dive guides came into play. They calmed her down, reassured her, and she then became confident to make her second dive and had an incredible time. One other thing I loved, the moment we got on the boat, the dive guide immediately helped us to analyze our tanks, she was on top of everything, unlike some other boats I've been on which did not have an analyzer or didn't bother to ask if you wanted it (yes, I know it is your responsibility, but remember, service is paramount).
Snacks and drinks were offered, they even came by with fruit a few times too, which is nice, considering some people are a little shy about opening the food bin, I am not, so it is the small things the staff do which make the entire trip worthwhile.
I grew up in West Palm Beach and I know it is a service based industry and know how to provide service and Walkers blew me away. My only regret was not booking sooner before the holidays to have reserved spots on his boat the entire trip. We plan on visiting Florida at least once per month, until we move back there, and each time we're going to pick Walkers for our...
Read moreGreat time with Walker’s dive Charter. I had done only one blackwater dive before, but that time I was tethered to the boat. Also I had never dived with 1 tank for 2 hours. So I was a little anxious about my air consumption. I was not worried about not being tethered to the boat, free to roam around and go where I wanted. Bill Walker himself welcomed me on board, as well as Michelle the mate on board. There were other 4 divers, professional photographers and very knowledgeable in blackwater diving. I’m a dive master myself, but had only done one blackwater dive before. Once in the water it all felt peaceful and beautiful, admiring all the amazing critters that live underwater and never had time to see before. As we moved along with the drifting “ball” full of lights with no reference point (pitch dark in 700 deep ocean), you actually didn’t feel like moving/drifting. It was complete therapy for 2 hours. I was probably too conservative and stayed higher (around 20ft avg) the whole time, and ended up with “too” much air left after 2 hours. Will definitely plan one or more trips soon with Walker’s. Plenty of soda on board, nice dry towels, great boat. Highly...
Read moreThis dive shop saved my butt and are amazing! I had the unfortunate situation where a different dive shop cancelled my dive at the very last minute and left me scrambling the night before to find a replacement. This Shop had last minute bookings and the process was super easy. Directions were clear and the boarding process was simple. This was my first dive as not a tour and it was a fabulous. Captain JP was chipper and inviting and so were Autumn and Jen. Jen was my diving buddy since I was diving alone. I explained my nerves and Jen walked me through the process while Autumn ensured my rigged was double checked. The dive was amazing and even in the cold water, it was fun. Jen was a great buddy and she did a wonderful job checking in and showing me all the cool spots to see.Thank you for such an amazing experience and I cannot wait to come back to dive and complete further education. PS Jen and Autumn, The conch shell we found and triple checked is now crawling in my sink. I screamed... it screamed... we are going back to the...
