Went there for my undergrad in Psychology. The diversity at Jessup was awful, there was less than 10 international students. As an international student I felt like there was not enough support or cultural awareness among staff and students to accommodate diversity.
My first week, one of the residence assistant was so racist I had to stop her. The school did not do anything about it. That was not the end of racist treatments I received.
Environment was awful as there was nothing close by. Public transport was Nil. Student body/ students in general were ignorant, unaware, narrow-minded, unaccepting of anything that did not come from a white upper-middle class.
They boast about Christian values but look the other way when one of my friends was rape by a student on campus. The assistant dean back then, look the other way and allowed the accused to live on campus not before telling me that the accused had prior accusations from a different university of the same nature. Gays are not ok, rapist we cool -WJU slogan
Campus security at night is non-existent. At one point, cars were vandalized and broken into. The school fees is ridiculous for the amount of services received.
If you are from the LGBT community, this is not a college for you, like I said before, diversity and acceptance does not exist in this college.
The professors are okay, some better than others. But most dilute their lectures with religious opinion and does not share the whole picture, thus making the point of a "holistic" education moot.
Support services was limited, they have a counseling service that you can pay 10$ an hour, no mentor program, no international student center, no clubs (there is but they don't do anything, there is less than 20 of those).
If you want a sheltered environment to received a degree that most likely will not get you a job (Most graduates from WJU that I know of are jobless/ working at a minimum wage job) and is willing to shell out the money, this is the place for you.
The only upside of this school: The cafeteria...
Read moreThe whole campus is an old warehouse haphazardly dressed to look like a modernly designed college. It smelled like a sewer spill most of my year there. If you have any life outside a strict christian theme, I would highly recommend that you don't go to this school. I witnessed a lot of kids make the similar mistake and were kicked out or lost their scholarships for petty personal decisions. I'm very saddened at the fact that this school has such a good review considering how many people were unhappy and frustrated the year I attended. If you are an uncompromising, narrow minded, Hypocritical middle class caucasian Christian. Then I'd like to welcome you to William...
Read moreAs a student and worker of William Jessup University for 5 years, you could say I have seen most of the "ins and outs" of the campus and people involved, and I could not be happier or prouder of calling WJU my alma mater and home away from home. I completed my Master's degree at Sac State and had a completely different experience. I have experienced the "Big school with the so called "more" opportunities" and I've experienced a school like WJU where you are not just treated like a number. The faculty gets to know their students as individuals and has a vested interest in them.
WJU...
