Though it’s relatively smaller in size, it portrays enough of the embedded history in this island.

The exhibits are very educative with elaborate descriptions and the befitting displays.

The exhibits are very thoughtfully laid out by beginning the start of the fur trade and followed by the periods of further developments.

It’s educative for all ages.

Take time to have a brief walk on the trail, starting from the museum, that takes to the waters and gives a glimpse of beaver carvings on the tree trunks.

Huge covered pavilion gives space for family and group picnicking.

Plenty of car parking spaces available...

I had no idea Will County had this wonderful resource until my son's class took a field trip there. The museum was very interesting and we'll maintained. The staff was excellent end very accommodating with our class, and the wonderful actors gave amazing presentations that really helped our students see what life was like hundreds of years ago. I plan to go back and...

Who would a thunk! We have an island park near Lemont IL! Cool little park, didn’t get to go into the museum but had an enjoyable walk. Seemed like a place for a mom to bring her bored kids to pretend to appreciate nature. Cool river that flows through and the water levels were high so part of the path was covered in water. There wasn’t that much path to...

Pretty cool hidden gem in Will County. The museum is about the 18th century fur trade in Illinois. They do a living history demo on the first Sunday of every month with reenactors talking about what life was like then. They even have Blanding's turtles. The best part...it is all completely free!
