As city parks go in this area, this is a nice, big one with lots of mature trees, two playground areas, and plenty of space for picnic blankets.
Pros: trees, playground, space, mini trains, pavilions available for reservation
Cons: lack of tables (outside pavilions), parking (on busy days)
Run kids, run!: There are two playgrounds, one of which is suited more for smaller children. Both are pretty cool by modern standards. (Though not as cool as the wooden old west town they used to have in the 80s and 90s!) The size of the park allows for playing catch, Frisbee, etc.
Few tables: Outside of the pavilions, there are not many tables available. Again, there is plenty of space to put down a blanket in the shade or set up folding chairs.
Parking can be limited on busy days. There are two modest-sized lots, one of which is near the ball fields, which are about a 3-5-minute walk from the other amenities.
Mini trains! On the first weekend of the month from May to October, the Great Lakes Steamers offer miniature train rides on a track that runs through much of the park. It's a lot of fun for kids (and adults). Unless you hate miniature things, you will enjoy a ride. Please donate to support the volunteers who operate and maintain the service. Read morePretty nice park I’ve driven by many times finally had a chance to stop they had an Easter event here with two different companies one I did know of because I went to the event was for Keller Williams and I’m not sure what the other one was. The park looked clean the bathrooms were quite small no paper towels there was there but I honestly don’t think it’s always there. It look like somebody from an event may have put it there. They have two pavilions. You can have events at there that are covered that looks like some type of field may be a softball field right next to it. There is two playgrounds one for a little bit older kids, and one for younger the ground where the playground equipment is covered is wood chips there is also a small sandbox there. There was a few toys there that look like construction trucks not sure if the vent put it there or they’re always there to play with my daughter. Had a blast playing with the children here don’t really have any complaints. The only other thing I did notice that the parking is limited if it’s actually packed, you have to park way to the left and walk quite a bit. Also, the grass does get pretty muddy and slippery but everything...
Read moreOverview- I typically play disc golf here, but the park has pavilions, bathrooms, and a rideable scale train for kids!
This park is almost always busy. There's a few good reasons. Lots of shade over two cool playgrounds. It's tucked off a busy road so it's easy to get to.
The details: It's got 2 playground areas, one good for toddlers ans the other 5 and up. Read more below.
There are several pavilions. The main one has maybe 5 or 6 picnic tables and a restroom attached. Family, men, and women. The largest one is more central to the park and has maybe double the space. The third is behind the restrooms and is good for a few tables worth of people.
There is a disc golf course. Gets flooded, but overall pretty fun 9 basket 18 tee course. Fairly clean, mostly shorter holes, and not much rough. Good for families.
As mentioned, there are restrooms open from late spring into fall (Labor Day). Fountains are available outside of the building.
There are a few baseball fields and a massive open area for kites or catch next to the main portion of the park.
Lastly, this is a model railroad park. I believe around 1pm through their open season kids can ride on it. Check out their...
