Concan Swimming Hole — Attraction in Sabinal

When planning my family vacation for the 4th of July, I called over a week in advance to inquire about rates, tickets in advance, etc., as we live 8 hours away. They told me it would be $5/child and $10/adult. I reminded her that Monday would be the holiday and asked if there would not be any price increase. She said there would not be and that admission was 1st come 1st serve. On the day of arrival, they had hiked the prices up and informed me there would be a $50 minimum as well. I advised them of my previous call and it's contents, and 1 of the girls said "I don't think so", basically called me a liar. I pulled up my call log from a week before and showed proof of 3 back to back calls to them. I told them a manager needed to be notified. They said ok followed by blank stares and laughed as I walked out the door. They're just a bunch of kids and do not care about customer service, professionalism or if they produce false advertising, much less...

$50 a car seems a bit much considering all you get is river access and there is no grilling allowed. Bathrooms are porta potties so they are nothing special. Very rocky and weedy with a little shade provided only by a few trees. It's a must to bring your own shade and chairs. That said the Frio River is great. Clear and cool it is always refreshing. Been here twice ,both after getting turned away from Garner due to over capacity, and both times the water level was sallow. The deepest area I found in the area we set up at was about 3.5 ft. Not a problem for us because we have two small kids so they need a sallow area but it would be if I was serious about swimming. Yeah I guess it works but the overall experience...

Our family had a great time hanging out at the Concan Swimming Hole. We had family members of all ages from older adults to young adult to young babies. Everyone had a great time cooling off in the water. The young kids loved jumping off the rock into the deeper spots in the river. It's a good idea to get there early to stake out a place for you to put your chairs floats and pop up tents. Be sure to bring your coolers with plenty of water and drinks and snacks if you plan on spending a few hours at the swimming hole.
