This little pit stop was in Garner Park. The hike was better than the cave. It is a pretty trek. There are some areas that were a little difficult to maneuver. A lot of the time you would have to stop and step to the side so others could pass that were coming down the trail. The cave was ok. It is pretty small. You can climb down in it and go maybe 30 yards inside. My eight year old enjoyed it the most. The rest of us enjoyed the journey getting to the cave more. The hike was kind of steep.

It was a great hike getting there, somewhat difficult, but amazing scenery. The cave was cool and a little damp with a musty smell. Remember to take hiking shoes or sneakers with good traction and thick soles, because after while the sharp rock take a toll on your feet. Great experience.

I love this place and this hike. Maybe it was the time of the year, but this time we were not able to go into the cave. That fuzzy stuff on the cave ? A huge nest of spiders in the way, Harry Potter style. They were even dropping from the cave ceiling to the floor

I enjoy all the trails in Garner Stat Park and this one is no exception. It is steep and part of the trail is partially washed away so it can be very challenging, particularly if you go too fast. It's best to do the slippery part (to the right of the cave if you are facing the cave) while going up rather than down. I did the opposite way twice and took a fall both times. Good shoes help a bit, but it is really loose rock. The cave is underwhelming but it's...

Went to Garner State Park 10/18/24. Park is amazing with tons of realistic hiking. Some of the trails are no joke! Crystal Cave and Old Baldy are literal straight up hikes. We were lucky the temps were cooler and it wasn’t raining as it would’ve made the hike a whole lot more difficult. If you get the chance when you are down at the Frio river take the time to explore this...
